Tom Friedman pointed out that all the scorched earth shit the R’s are planning when Biden wins, would be nipped in the bud instantly if we flip Texas. Blue Texas means the end of the R party.Texas will be tight, but the fact that the GOP is even sweating Texas it is a testament to the networks and coalitions O'Rourke, Castro, and others have developed there.
We don’t know what we don’t know, but right now everything looks positive for an easy Biden victory. No cure now but to wait.
Can I be the first to say that this is just insane?Looks like Trump is planning to hunker down for the long haul:
Does he fancy himself as the six-fingered man? Inigo Montoya may wish to know what he's up to nowadays. And yes, he is a vile evil madman. Can I be the first to say that this is just insane?
He either thinks he is going to win and the people are going to storm the castle or he is going to lose and, well, I'm not sure...build a fortress?
Maybe he figures that, if nobody can get in to remove him from the premises, he can stay there forever? Can I be the first to say that this is just insane?

Canada has some experience in this area.Maybe he figures that, if nobody can get in to remove him from the premises, he can stay there forever?
Let's hope it ends better than this48 Hours, and we should know.
47 hours, 59 minutes and we should know.

The difference though still is that it is generally mandatory in Germany to own a personal ID card as an adult, while in the USA it is not mandatory to have a state id per my knowledge. If this has changed, please let me know.(All?) States issue state id for people who don't drive. They look like a drivers license but say Not a license to drive on them.
It is needed for other things, notably to fly and to buy alcohol or cigarettes to prove you are 21. Probably to get a job too. I'm not sure, I haven't applied for a job since the '80s.The difference though still is that it is generally mandatory in Germany to own a personal ID card as an adult, while in the USA it is not mandatory to have a state id per my knowledge. You are required to identify yourself with the document of your choice when entering certain types of Federal buildings, like an airport, but that's it. This document of choice could be your passport, driver's license or state id then. Nobody can force you to get a driver's license or state id, if you don't want it, then you don't have one. And considering in some states the state id comes with a fee in the 70-80$ range I guess many there just won't ever want one at all.
I wonder how (local) taxes are collected, if people don't have to officially register the place where they live. This is a cultural issue. The Netherlands have, like Germany, a mandatorty residents' registration office. The USA as well as their birth giving nation, the UK, don't have such a thing. It is simply non existant.
Has anyone pointed out that in order to build his wall, Trump still needs to seize the land from landowners in Texas, Arizona and other border states for the federal government?Tom Friedman pointed out that all the scorched earth shit the R’s are planning when Biden wins, would be nipped in the bud instantly if we flip Texas. And good fucking riddance.
You have to declare you live somewhere which has to be an actual residence of yours on your federal tax returns. That somewhere determines your state and local taxes.I wonder how (local) taxes are collected, if people don't have to officially register the place where they live.
My husband was just telling me about a friend who has a lot of land on the texas border he has been batttling the feds over. They are pouring concrete as we speak. But many of these ranchers etc. whose land is being confiscated still plan to remain Trump cultists. Trump could toss their children into the Rio Grande and they would remain loyal.Has anyone pointed out that in order to build his wall, Trump still needs to seize the land from landowners in Texas, Arizona and other border states for the federal government?
Trump wants to orchestrate a federal land grab. Is that kind of eminent domain crap popular in those states?
