The question isn't, to my mind, comparative knife crime homicide rates but what the UK rates of homicide, suicide, and accidental death by shooting would look like without tight restrictions on the use of firearms.

Shortly after 10 AM, a man on the roof of a store or restaurant in the downtown area opened fire with a rifle on the town's July 4th parade, killing at least 6 and wounding at least 24 people. I took a look at some of the replies, and it is a bit disappointing that nobody stopped to point out that the north american colonialists in 1776 were desperate for help from France and took drastic steps to convince the French that it was in their interest to support the American Revolution. They invited French Diplomats and sent envoys to France (most notably Benjamin Franklin). The material and direct military aid sent by the French were critical to the success of the revolution, and the French played an important role to shepherd the Treaty of Paris as well as help the new country.
