I have had the Chocolate Toasted Coconut Donut. It's hard to call it a donut because they really do make it from potato dough. But it is pretty great. I would really like to try the Ubae (Ube?) Donut from PURVÉ Donut Shop (Hawaii), But I don't see it on the menu. They also have a donut called the Unicorn Butt Sneeze. Ha!

chocolate eclairs are a close substitute.

As a teen, we had a local donut shop sell Bavarian Creme donuts which were like these, with a chocolate center. I would always buy a couple when I could.

There are "chocolatines" (or pain au chcolat depending on your region) that of course, aren't donuts, but would satisfy you I think. There was one place I would go to where they stuffed theirs with thick creamy chocolate, then drizzled them with more chocolate... pure heaven.

There is pineapple upside down cake which is super yummy, but I've never heard ken nor tell of a donut version.

San Diego is awesome for their fish and shrimp tacos!

Sadly, I live about six hours north, so I make due with Rubio's.

(Not saying Rubio's is bad - far from it. But it's just not the same as what I could get from the mom-and-pop places in SD).
