That is a kiddie ride.
There were a lot of them about in the 50's & 60's - Messerschmitts and Heinkels mainly. Once, on a pub-crawl with some friends, we lifted a mate's Heinkel into the back of a lorry in the a car-park. When we came out of the pub the lorry was gone... Fortunately the landlord knew who's it was, so we managed to find him and retrieve the Heinkel. Early Heinkels had a front-opening door and no reverse gear, so if you parked nose-first against a wall by mistake you had to climb out of the roof-light. Jolly entertaining in those days of rampant voyeurism and short skirts...

I remember Heinkels, too -- such strange little machines!

Quebec City police arrest suspect after stabbings leave 2 dead
Spokesperson Étienne Doyon said the suspect is in his mid-20s, and would not say whether he was known to police.

He said the five victims have been transported to a local hospital, with varying levels of injury. The suspect has also been taken to hospital for evaluation, Doyon said.

Doyon said his thoughts are with the victims' families and is asking people to call 911 if they have information in the coming hours or days.

Police said late Saturday they were hunting for a man dressed in medieval clothing and armed with a bladed weapon who left "multiple victims."

The politician Doug Jones needs to wear monster costumes, because I keep confusing him with the actor Doug Jones (who was the fish dude in Shape of Water, among other beasties in the movies). I always have to double check who people are talking about on Twitter.

A Republican candidate for the state legislature in North Dakota who died from COVID-19 in October won his election Tuesday night.

Election results in North Dakota showed the Bismark-area district going to David Andahl and Dave Nehring. The district chooses two representatives.

According to the Associated Press, Andahl died due to complications from COVID-19 at the age of 55 in October. He had been sick and hospitalized with the disease.

A Large Portion of the Electorate Chose the Sociopath - The Atlantic

Great article and then

The Democrats, for their part, might look at this near-death experience, and, as they sometimes have in the past, conclude that moving left, including more talk of socialism and more social-justice activism is just the tonic they’ll need to shore up their coalition. Some Democrats tend to believe that almost every election confirms the need to lurch to the left, when in fact the 2020 election should be a reminder that Trump would have beaten anyone left of Biden.
Heave on that Overton Window, Tom! Throw all your weight on it! OH NOES SOCIALISM. Tom, hint, universal health care is not only standard in other industrialized nations, forms of it polls a supermajority in the USA.

And you think the Democratic Party needs to move to the right?
