Tennessee police charge musician with 160 counts of child sex abuse

Hendersonville Police said musician Phil Vaught was arrested in Mississippi on multiple charges of child sex abuse.

A Hendersonville musician on tour in Mississippi is being held on $1.5 million bond and faces more than 150 charges of child sexual abuse.

Hendersonville Police said April 13 that Philip W. Vaught was arrested April 10 after a lengthy investigation on charges of continuous sexual abuse of a child, especially aggravated sexual exploitation, statutory rape by an authority figure and sexual exploitation of a minor.

Assistant District Attorney Nathan Nichols confirmed news reports that Vaught was indicted on 160 counts by a Sumner County Grand Jury. He did not provide any additional details on the case.

Police did not say over what period of time the abuse took place or in what way Vaught was in a position of authority over the victim.
