A Florida man who went missing on Valentine's Day was rescued on Thursday after being stuck to his shoulders in mud described as "quick sand" without food or water for several days.
Putnam County Sheriff's Office said Andrew Giddens, a 36-year-old from Jacksonville, was rescued from a Vulcan Materials Company site east of Melrose.
I can remember hearing my brother playing some sort of adventure game in our backyard, he or one of his buddies suddenly yelling "Quicksand!" and asking for help, then narrating to each other what they were doing as they play-acted pulling the "victim" from the deadly "quicksand". Somehow, summer days come to mind. For me, now, living in the relative quiet of the redwood forest hereabouts, it seems unlikely, but the memory of those summer days in southern San Francisco are accompanied by thoughts of quiet except for the voices of children playing.I know Florida has swamps and all, but this is not on my "Florida Man" bingo card.

Moments later, another caller reported spotting the vehicle stopped on airport property.
“There’s a blue Mustang sitting in the middle of the taxiway, and there’s a civilian over here peeing on the runway,” the caller said.
According to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office, the driver, identified as 58-year-old Bryan Parker, was later seen attempting to enter multiple aircraft.
“He’s trying to get into a plane right now,” a caller reported.
My guess is that either alcohol or drugs were involved. And because it's Florida, probably nudity.![]()

I know you're just kidding here, but I do think it's a fun fact that Olympus Mons would actually be a very easy thing to drive over. It's very wide and not very steep!
