This is very common in Florida. They look for houses and apartments that have gone into foreclosure or where someone has been evicted and then move in and cook. When I lived in Fort Lauderdale, during the housing crash, four houses on our block went into foreclosure. One day a boat pulled up and just docked at one of the houses. Come to find out, they were cooking meth on the boat. I think maybe Idaho may still have us beat as the meth capitol of the US but Florida is not far behind.

It's been about ten years or so, but we had a neighbor four doors down on our street who had an RV parked out front of his house. Neighborhood kids were running in and out of it all day with his 5-year-old son. Imagine everyone's surprise when the police carried him away in handcuffs and a team in haz-mat suits took over the RV. Turns out Bob was running a meth lab right there in front of everyone. He was caught when a customer OD'd in his living room.

Fun times.

No one smelled it? 😲

Unusual Odors: Making meth produces powerful odors that may smell like ammonia or ether. These odors have been compared to the smell of cat urine or rotten eggs.

And thanks for bringing this up. I think I know now what it is I have been smelling in my bathroom and bedroom off and on for the past 3 years and it hasn't been rotten eggs, cat urine or chicken shit. I keep thinking it's natural gas but gas hasn't been allowed in this park for a very long time. It was cut off long before we moved in 4 years ago.

Well... the rooster is gone, the dog is on the verge of being gone and now this. Why can't humans be excellent to each other? 😢

When I lived in Arkansas, I was told that the rural fire departments didn't put out barn fires, just stopped them from spreading. Because the odds were good that the fire was started by a makeshift meth lab.

Wow - I heard about the issue on the news but they never showed the actual mural. At first I thought maybe unfortunate artistic license, but shit, it's just blatantly racist. Also I don't think it's even that good from an artistic perspective. Sometimes I'm embarrassed to be living in Florida, this is [another] one of those times.

The FBI just announced that they identified Brian Laundrie's remains. Bones and a backpack with personal items were found in a swampy area of Myakkahatchee Creek, near the Carlton Reserve. The area had been underwater until recently, which prevented searching. It really does look like they found him. It may never be known how he died, or even when he died. Nothing but bones remain.
It is strange that Brian's parents apparently knew just where to go to find him. The parents lead the authorities right to the area. Did they know all along that he was there?

Actually the way they falsified/modified the story and the way it keeps getting reported incorrectly, is disconcerting.
Also unfortunately common. I've had my own bad experience with "journalists"... way before Fox News made deceptive reporting their business model... and don't talk to the press any more.

Last night I was spinning channels and happened to land on "Inside Edition" because they were talking about the Laundrie case. For some stupid reason they interviewed Nancy Grace (who I dislike even more than Ann Coulter and I dislike Ann Coulter a lot).

Anyhow, she starts on on Laundrie's parents and how if they did anything they will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, blah, blah, blah, blah. Her diatribe was really hostile and went on about how they have refused to cooperate. (That's patently not true, they have been in the park twice trying to help LE find their son, plus they are the ones that called LE when he did not come home.)

Making me think to myself, why make them look so bad - a tragedy occurred and their son may have done something awful and then took his own life. Since when should anyone be prosecuted for hiring a lawyer and exercising their Miranda rights? Since when should anyone be prosecuted in the media at all?

Ratings. An inexcusable excuse.
