Florida man accused of stealing gator from golf course, threw it around to teach ‘it a lesson’

A Florida man who stole an alligator from a minature-golf course, swung it around by its tail and threw it into the air claimed he was teaching the reptile “a lesson,” according to the Daytona Beach Shores Department of Public Safety.

How does one "steal" an alligator? Was it golf course property? (talk about your golf hazards!) And, how big does a person have to be to be able to grab an alligator by the tail and swing it around, then throw it in the air? That's pretty bad-ass!

Alligators are pretty common all over South Florida, including on golf and mini-golf courses. Any place with a lake.

It's illegal to abuse, molest or remove an alligator from its habitat in Florida, essentially he was "stealing" the alligator from the state.

379.409 Illegal killing, possessing, or capturing of alligators or other crocodilia or eggs; confiscation of equipment.—
(1) It is unlawful to intentionally kill, injure, possess, or capture, or attempt to kill, injure, possess, or capture, an alligator or other crocodilian, or the eggs of an alligator or other crocodilian, unless authorized by the rules of the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. It was a small BABY alligator that he was tossing around and hurting. I hope some day a big ass alligator takes him down, it would be what he deserves.

It's things like this that make me wish we had more than one emoji we could use. I'm both sad and extremely angry that this is happening. The state [Republican] congress have allowed companies to dump FOR YEARS now. This is the result. Mass killings of marine life, not to mention extreme conditions for any humans living near red tide (which can make you very ill).

Property law is a pretty settled field. If the street is city property, they should maintain it. Some larger streets and roads belong to the county or state, and it becomes their responsibility.
