Agreed. I think it benefits right wingers in general to pretend Kirk was this perfect martyr. I'm not sure WHY they are doing this, but it suits me just fine.

A lot of the MAGA crazies, MTG among them, were, I think, brought into the movement by the QAnon conspiracy theory. QAnon has been silent for the last few years, and now the Epstein files are raising the horrible possibility that, far from being sent by God to destroy Hillary Clinton, the Deep State and all the other evil blood-drinking pedophiles, Trump was, in fact, one of them all the time, rather like Captain America being a member of Hydra in one of the storylines.

Laura Loomer, the Islamophobic conspiracy theorist who has long contested the title of top big boss crazy conspiracy theorist of MAGA with the antisemitic conspiracy theorist MTG, seems to have seized the opportunity to wrest the title and narrative from her rival, now MTG has turned on Trump over the Epstein files, by presenting her own new deep state conspiracy theory, in which the antisemites like MTG and Tucker Carlson are part of an anti-MAGA conspiracy intended to desecrate the memory of the blessed Charlie Kirk for their own nefarious purposes, orchestrated by perverted gays like Milo.

We laugh, but these people have access to real political power.

I think the show was a case of "People who find watching this kind of thing enjoyable will enjoy watching it." I can't say "Erika Kirk does a town hall with Bari Weiss" sounds particularly unmissable to me.

The meme was just quoting the President in regards to a different shooting.... Ironically, one of the things Kirk was correct about was that the USA has very strong law around speech. This should be an open and shut case.
