Tohono O'odham man shot and killed by border patrol

According to Customs and Border Protection U.S. Border Patrol agents from the Ajo Station were involved in a shooting that resulted in the death of a man.

According to another family member who also asked not to be identified, Mattia was shot and killed by Border patrol agents Thursday night. She said Mattia had called Border Patrol.

"He called to request for assistance because there were multiple illegal immigrants who had trespassed into his yard and he wanted assistance getting them out of his property."

The family is still confused as to what happened that night and they want answers.

"They told us there was an estimated 38 shots fired at him. You know that's excessive and we want justice and we want to know what happened and why there were so many Border Patrol out there shooting at him."

I'm mixed on this one. Having been a driver, I am aware of the rules. You are not allowed to carry a weapon. You are allowed to carry pepper spray, but only after having attended a class, during which you have to put some by your eyes so that you "know what it feels like." In addition, you are only allowed to use it for your own protection. You may not use it in defense of anyone else, such as passengers.

This driver very clearly broke regulations by even having the gun. What's even more insane is then going all wild west, with no regard for anyone else and then chasing him off the bus, continuing to shoot. I would imagine he will be charged at some point, as that is in no way self-defense.

This passenger clearly was going to shoot him and did, while the driver was still operating the bus. That makes it very serious in that now you've also endangered everyone on the bus and on the road. Doing so is a felony, so things like punching a driver make it a felony. although in this case, he's already crossed the felony line by shooting at him.

Yet, in the back of my mind, I can see how this was going to go had the driver not had that gun. This creep would shoot him, potentially fatally, and then run off. I wonder how it would have gone had he had the pepper spray, if he would have successfully been able to shoot it at this guy's eyes before the gun was fired.

Just another day in insane America with everyone and their uncle packing a weapon and using it at the slighest provocation.

This is the result of the wealthy exploiting fear and divisiveness to push for candidates that will dismantle obstacles in the way of their increasing wealth and control, and the worse things get, the easier it is for them to exploit those divisions and use brinksmanship to get what they want.

Simply put, those with the wealth and influence to -insist- that something be done about gun violence... won't. Because they have a conflict of interest.
