The ISW has run a piece named "The high price of losing Ukraine: Military-Strategic and Financial Implications of Russian Victory", which describes that if Ukraine would loose there is much more at stake for the USA than many people do comprehend.

According to the ISW it would mean a strengthened and better Russian army, which would be an increased threat to NATO. NATO would be unable to defend itself with the forces currently stationed in Europe. As consequence the states would have to deploy a good portion of its fleet of stealth aircraft permanently in Europe as well increase its troop presence again, which then would be missing in Asia/Pacific, to China, meaning it could decrease America's ability to respond effectively to Chinese aggression to Taiwan.

So in short its better and much cheaper in their opinion to support Ukraine than to let Russia win.

If I were in the American Navy seeing these, I'd be more than a little worried, particularly if I were in the Navy group launching attacks against the Houthis in Yemen. Because I am the daughter of a Pearl Harbor veteran, I've read a lot of first person accounts of war in the Pacific. Death and injury were quick and awful in that war. It's only become worse. I do take some comfort in the notion that the Russian Black Sea Fleet is now probably no better prepared for war than was the battleship Potemkin, 119 years ago.

Nothing could fully prepare us for the horrors of having our ship blown up and sunk with us in it. But it is something we have accepted as a possible outcome of joining the Navy. In that light, we train like hell while hoping it never comes to that.

The content is as to be expected: Russia is the poor victim, does not want to attack Poland blablabla and it's up to America to give peace a chance, simply don't deliver new weapons and ammunition to Ukraine any longer, and it will be over in a few weeks. Of course peace talks are possible, etc.pp. - just pulling back is no option on Putin's mind.

I'm not watching 2 hours of Tucker talking but I am curious if Putin gives anything resembling a direct answer around why he invaded Ukraine?
