A woman said she was billed for a trip to the emergency room, even though she didn't receive any treatment.

Taylor Davis said she went to the Emory Decatur Hospital ER in July for a head injury.

She sat in the waiting room for hours, but with no end in sight, she decided to leave.
"I sat there for seven hours. There's no way I should be sitting in an emergency room.. an emergency room for seven hours," she said.

A couple of weeks later, a surprise came in her mailbox.

It was a bill from the hospital for nearly $700.

Even with a few kids ... Who the fuck is going through forty-eight fucking gallons of milk a month?!

My childhood? Two adults, two kids - nowhere near that level of consumption. That's drinking, as a cooking ingredient and with cereal.

Also, where the fuck are they even storing it? Unless they have a largeish refrigerator, there's no way there's enough room in it for the milk, normal food and potential leftovers.

Better question: Where are they buying milk?

I admit I barely go through a single 1/2 gallon a week. But the cost on the 1/2 gallon hasn't gone up more than a dime in say the last 3 years. (And that cost is still less then $2.)

The parents are overweight, I wonder if the kids are, too. Too much dairy will pack the pounds on especially if you don't exercise.

ETA: Ah... they have several kids, not just biologically related. Still, that's more milk than what they should be buying for that many people.

Uh boy.

Sounds like the ideal Republican candidate.
After all, this guy won his election and is now governor of Montana.

'She Has Nothing': Father Asks Why Daughter Charged After Deaths of Her 5 Children in Fire (msn.com)

East St. Louis resident Sabrina Dunigan has been charged with five felony counts of child endangerment months after an August 6 fire that claimed the lives of her children. Authorities said that she had briefly left the apartment to pick up her boyfriend, leaving her children alone. She and her boyfriend reported the fire when they arrived back, with Dunigan sustaining injuries trying to save her children.

"Why are they trying to do this to her?" her father Greg Dunigan said to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. "She done lost all she can lose already. Why they want to take the rest away, meaning herself? She don't have nothing left."

Dunigan also lived in a separate part of the apartment along with his wife. However, he said that he was unable to reach the children in the fire and had to jump out the second-story window to escape.

Documents have listed Dunigan's children being left without supervision
as a possible cause of the fire. However, no other potential causes of the fire have been identified.

[...]

Assistant Fire Chief George McClellan of the East St. Louis Fire Department said shortly after the August fire that the children were home alone on the second floor of a two-story, brick building.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported that Dunigan's bond is set at $75,000 and that she could not be reached for comment. Her father also said that she does not currently have a lawyer. Dunigan said that he and his wife were meant to be watching the children, but the two fell asleep.
She didn't leave her children home alone. The grandparents were there. ON THE SAME FLOOR. IN THE SAME APARTMENT.

And no one noticed the character's name was a problem until the reviews came in.
Baloney.
That's not a name you choose by accident.
Especially since its obviously supposed to be a caricature of Elon Musk (who isn't Jewish). You want to parody Elon Musk? Call him Alan Trask.Similar sound, and not tied to a particular ethnicity, like Gremlins 2 character Daniel Clamp (three guesses who he was based on),
The writer was drawing on the old stereotype of the "greedy Jew".

They either didn't care, or they didn't think anyone else would.

At least 8 people died at Travis Scott's Astroworld in Houston last night
At least eight people died last night at Travis Scott’s Astroworld festival in Houston, Texas, after a crowd surge began pushing hundreds of people toward the front of the concert stage. Per The New York Times, local authorities have confirmed at least 8 deaths, 23 hospitalizations, and hundreds of treatments at an on-site field hospital. At least 11 of the hospitalizations were reportedly of people who were in cardiac arrest.
NBC News reports that there were roughly 50,000 people in attendance at Houston’s NRG Park. Per a press conference held by the city’s fire chief last night, around 9:15 p.m., “the crowd began to compress toward the front of the stage,” with many reports of people being trampled or falling unconscious. The Houston Chronicle reports that Scott paused the performance several times during the night after seeing people near the stage in obvious distress.

Kellogg's workers are still striking, and getting sued for enforcing their picket line, by intimidating and harassing scabs who try to cross their lines.
