Malice, in this case, I think, since I can't believe no one there thought to google "what do marijuana leaves look like?" before alleging she was trying to drug the congregation.
Same thing with the article WolfEyes posted. The insurance company wanted to find a train bit to have to pay out. They wanted it to be marijuana, so why look? After they have to pay damages, maybe they'll look the next time. But I expect that couple will be changing insurance companies. I sure would.

If it was the dried herb it's more understandable.

Is the one on the left the real thing or the one on the right?

The police apparently arrived at the Cramers' home around noon Oct. 7 while Audrey Cramer was on the second floor only partially dressed.

When she answered the door, she alleges that about a dozen officers were pointing assault-style rifles at her.

According to the complaint, Sgt. Scott Hess demanded that Cramer put her hands up and told her that he had a search warrant but would not show it to her.

Then, “Hess entered the home and went upstairs. Upon returning downstairs, he demanded that (Cramer), a 66-year-old woman, be handcuffed behind her back in a state of partial undress.”
From the article

And it gets worse from there.

That is not how you do an armed drugs raid, and I do have some professional knowledge of how those are executed in the UK, including when the suspects are known to be members of criminal gangs and likely to be armed.

Yes, but why would someone use the dried herb for Menudo when fresh coriander is widely available, particularly if they're cooking for some church occasion, and if they were using it, why would they bring it with them to church?

I assume she brought a bunch of fresh coriander with her as a garnish, as I would do when I cook Chana.

Right before it blooms, kenaf plants produce leaves that look a lot like cannabis leaves. If you walked past a kenaf plant and didn’t know any better, you might assume you’d stumbled on a wild patch of cannabis.

Unfortunately, though, this plant will not get you high. But it does share some similarities with hemp strains of cannabis.

Kenaf is harvested around the world for its fiber. It can be used to make rope, twine, and even paper.

And for one final similarity, consider the plant’s scientific designation. Its Latin name is Hibiscus cannabinus.

Kenaf is on the left.

ETA: To tell kenaf apart from marijuana is easy when the plant blooms. Otherwise, you’ll need to smell it or do a lab test for THC. It’s too bad it looks like something illegal, since kenaf is a great biomass crop.

This is kind of helpful: Five plants that look like Marijuana: a helpful visual guide for law enforcement and the curious | The Survival Gardener

I grow both cranberry hibiscus (I add the flower to the homemade cranberry sauce I make at Thanksgiving and Christmas). I also grow cassava, the leaves on my cassava plants actually look more like marijuana than those pictured in the link. Cassava is often called the "false arrest" plant.

It's true. As the leaves grow the points increase beginning with 3. I've seen as many points as 17. That was one lucky plant to have lived that long. It didn't get very tall though. I ate it. It was male.

ETA: and yes, there are male and female plants. Male are needed for pollination. It's the female that is harvested, dried and smoked.

Baloney.
That's not a name you choose by accident.
Especially since its obviously supposed to be a caricature of Elon Musk (who isn't Jewish). You want to parody Elon Musk? Call him Alan Trask.Similar sound, and not tied to a particular ethnicity, like Gremlins 2 character Daniel Clamp (three guesses who he was based on),
The writer was drawing on the old stereotype of the "greedy Jew".

They either didn't care, or they didn't think anyone else would.
More background on the story, from The Sunday Times (a Conservative paper, but knowing the Corbynite left, I'm inclined to trust the ST on this occasion, since those guys just can't see the blindingly obvious because they know they can't be antisemitic because they're socialists, and socialists oppose all forms of racism (and all lives matter, too, come to that).

According to them, only the right are racists, because racism is a tool of capitalism and colonialism, which lets the left off the hook for a great deal,.

How on earth do you mistake coriander/cilantro

for weed?

In high school, in the 90s, we only really had access to what the kids call today Mexican dirt weed. It was dried and ground up and sold in little baggies, stems and all. It was nowhere near as strong or as good as the flowers and stuff they have today, but it made us happy. Some enterprising kids would sell bags of oregano or cilantro as weed, because it looked identical, even if the smell was different. It worked well enough on stupid kids.

Cops will raid anything with military force if you give them a tip. Years ago, there was an an ex-cop who turned marijuana advocate, he had a YouTube channel where he talked about this kind of thing (sorry I can't find the channel). As a demonstration, he put a bunch of Christmas trees in a house, then called in a tip that there was a marijuana grow happening there, then stood back and filmed what the cops did about it. They raided that little bungalow like it was Bin Laden's compound.

This was a classic theme in '70s counterculture comics and literature. The Butterfly Kid had a character "Loathsome" Lazlo Scott who used to sell cilantro as pot to naive young midwesterners on the regular. Also the Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers ran into nefarious dealers who tried (and failed) to sell them the stuff once or twice.

BTW, don't waste your time on the "new" Freak Bros series. It sucks blue donkey balls.

Also that time there was a sugar shortage and they bought a bag from a guy in an alley and were pissed when it turned out to be mostly heroin. It hardly sweetened the coffee at all.

Went looking for that and found this:

THOSE FABULOUS FURRY FREAK BROTHERS in "FAT FREDDIE'S BIG SCORE"

PHINEAS: (Looking in the sugar bottle) Fifteen dollars remains!

FREEWHEELIN' FRANKLIN: Fat Freddie, take our fifteen dollars and go score us
a lid of grass!...and DON'T get burned this time!

FAT FREDDIE: (Walking across town) Hmmm...I can probably drink a few beers in
this bar and catch the last of the football game...

FAT FREDDIE: (Many beers later) Gee, I've only got seven dollars left! I'd
better go try and score that lid before it's TOO LATE!

LATER...

DOPE DEALER: Speed? Acid? Grass?

FAT FREDDIE: I gotta play my cards right....I could use some GRASS, man, if
it's GOOD STUFF!

FAT FREDDIE: (Grabbing the pot) Give it here! I wanna smell it to determine
its... (hrumph) QUALITY!

FAT FREDDIE: Uh-oh! All that beer must have killed my sense of smell! I'll
just have to take a chance...

FAT FREDDIE: How much you want for this stuff?

DOPE DEALER: That's good PANAMA RED, man! Outa sight dope! Twenty dollars!

FAT FREDDIE: Awwww, man, dope hasn't sold for that much in the last SIX
YEARS!... All I can give you is seven dollars!

DOPE DEALER: Hey dig, man: It's like the border crackdown has caused this
immense DOPE FAMINE and the prices have gone up!

DOPE DEALER: Not only that, man, but my house just got broken into and me and
my old lady got ripped off for everything but this one little stash!

DOPE DEALER: But dig, man, I'll sell it to you for SEVEN BUCKS, 'cause I need
the bread!

FAT FREDDIE: (Returning home) He seemed like a nice guy.... little fucked up,
though.

FREEWHEELIN' FRANKLIN: ARRRGH! You spent our last fifteen dollars on PARSLEY!

FREEWHEELIN' FRANKLIN: (Stomping Fat Freddie's face into the floor) EAT IT!
EAT EVERY BIT OF IT or I'LL KILL YOU!

PHINEAS: (Snigger) I'll bet neither of you guys know that parsley,
administered orally in large amounts, is a POWERFUL APHRODISIAC!

THE NEXT DAY...

FREEWHEELIN' FRANKLIN: Hey Phineas, look at this headline in the morning
paper..."MAD RAPIST TERRORIZES CITY."..

PHINEAS: !

THE END.
