😳

This sort of thing seems to happen once a decade or so, and there's always some who'll say like "it's so lucky for her that somebody noticed she was alive" as if to imply that something terrible might have happened otherwise; but I always think - not really? I mean given what funeral homes do to bodies it's really inevitable that they will notice if one isn't quite dead once they start to work on it.

I guess the important question is how busy the funeral home is at the time they receive the body -- if they had put her in the freezer overnight or longer before starting work, she probably would have been well and truly dead by the time they were able to start preparing her remains.

In the 1st world his aprobation would be gone by now:
article said:
The doctor “pronounced the patient deceased based upon medical information provided” from the scene, the department said.
If you have been granted the competency to declare who's dead and who's not... you cannot rely in sources lacking that competency - F***! at least examine those people yourself - that's what you charged them for with the death certificate, right? Hope they sue his sorry ass to hell.

I could be wrong, but it's my understanding that funeral homes in the US don't have refrigerators or other such facilities for storing bodies; those are in hospital morgues and medical examiners' offices. If the body has to wait, it waits at those places; funeral homes only pick up or accept delivery of bodies round about the time they are prepared to get to work on them. They don't necessarily start immediately of course, but the body will just wait on the table until they get to it.

It all depends on the business. If the funeral home provides mortuary services, they likely have them.

Lara Kollab is permanently prohibited from practicing osteopathic medicine or surgery in Ohio, Cleveland.com reported. She surrendered her certificate prior to its revocation Aug. 12, according to the report, and cannot participate in another medical training program in the state.

Kollab wrote scores of anti-Semitic social media posts between 2011 to 2013 but deleted them after being accepted by the Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine in New York, which calls itself “the largest private university in the U.S. with Jewish roots.” In an apology after her tweets drew public attention, Kollab said she had written them because she had “difficulty constructively expressing my intense feelings about what I witnessed in my ancestral land,” following visits to Israel and the West Bank.

This is real shit's fucked up stuff.

In June, protesters beheaded a few Confederate statues in Portsmouth and tore down another, which landed on and injured a demonstrator. Several months later, Portsmouth police, taking advantage of Virginia’s magistrate system, which bypasses elected prosecutors in these decisions, charged various local civil rights leaders, public defenders, and the president pro tempore of the Virginia Senate, Louise Lucas, with felony charges of conspiracy to injure a monument.

Lucas had left the scene hours before any of the statues were harmed. The charges seemed timed to interrupt a Virginia Senate special session to debate new police reform legislation. The local prosecutor was bypassed, perhaps on account of her reformist tendencies. The police named her a possible witness, in what appeared to be an attempt to remove her from the process entirely.

Tirellia Thanks for the eyeroll, I needed to update it...

You fucking dweeb.
I'm really not sure they did strip it from her.

I looked at the site and all I could find about the award is this,

which is what she says caused her to return the award.

Until there's something on the RFKHR website or one of their verified official social media accounts to the contrary, I don't see any reason to reject the account that's appeared in all the media I've seen -- that is, RFKHR published a highly critical statement about her and she responded by returning the award.

They've had plenty of time to set the record straight, after all, if they found it necessary.

I usually find Jim Sterling to be entertaining. But it seems he's joined the strange crowd of people who think J. K. Rowling is somehow transphobic. Therefore the eyeroll. In this instance I'm with Rowling. But I'm not going to call people names.
