I grew up in New York City, and this was never an issue there. It's always been an immigrant city, and you ran into people speaking other languages all the time, though English was the common one that most people spoke. The white morons forget that their grandparents may have spoken German, Polish, Gaelic, or any number of other European languages.

Police searching for man who stole funeral home van, dumped body in parking lot

Police in Conyers are on the search for a man they said led officers on chase in a van he stole from a funeral home.

You know, I guess if you're going to steal a mortuary van, having a dead body with you can be a real downer.

A friend of mine told me a story from a couple of decades ago when he was a manager at a company that specialized in transporting cadavers from morgues and hospitals to funeral homes. A kid who had been working for him for a month or so suddenly quit over the telephone in the middle of a transport, and he (my friend) arrived to pick up the vehicle to find it face-first against a telephone pole. He eventually got the kid's story about what happened; it turned out that he picked up the body from the hospital, and while on the road he heard a long "Uuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhhhhhh" and looked in his rearview to see the corpse's upper body, inside its bag, starting to rise, as if trying to sit up. The body was just releasing some decomposition gasses (it's a normal process, although it happens usually not quite that dramatically) but the guy didn't know that, he slowed down just enough to jump out of the vehicle safely, leaving it to eventually roll into the utility pole, and walked to a nearby corner store with a payphone to call his boss.

I can't say that I'd blame him.

From what I've read, the machines don't really break. They're not particularly faulty or poorly designed, mechanically. It's just that they are programmed to shut down over even the mildest transient self-correcting anomalies, and the company that makes the machines enforces via contract that the only people who can reset the machines after those shut-downs are company repair technicians, even though the entire "repair" is just entering a code and pressing a button.

This is a deep rabbit hole. Here's a 30 minute long investigative report about those machines, from April. I assume a lot has happened since then, since this is a federal investigation, now. The issue deals with all kinds of corporate conflicts of interest, a hacker getting sued by McDonald's corporate for fixing machines without authorization, while franchisees love his services, which gets into right to repair issues, restaurant health regulations and... god knows what else has happened if this has gotten to the federal level. It's a mess. McDonalds would be wise to abandon this revenue stream before it blows up in a bigger way that seriously hurts their brand. They're maybe one catchy hashtag and a few big influencer tweets away from this hitting critical mass for a news cycle or two.

Texas now wants the US Supreme Court to overturn the Indian Child Welfare Act, which gives tribal courts exclusive jurisdiction over child custody and adoption proceedings for Native American children who live on reservations, and partial jurisdiction over cases where the Native American child lives outside of a reservation. The law was passed by Congress in the 1970's in order to stop the forced removal of Native children from their families by state courts in favor of white, usually-wealthy families who wanted to adopt Native children either as trophies or to "save them" for Jesus; and it is still, today in 2021, rich white families who want to overturn this law to make it easier for them to adopt Natives. Their argument is that the ICWA's giving jurisdiction to Native courts who strongly favor a Native adoptive family for a Native child is "racist against white people".

People like the woman standing are one reason I don't apply for one, although several of my issues would qualify me. I'd be constantly looking over my shoulder for nosey parkers who fancy themselves diagnosticians.
If that happened to me, since I'd be alone, I'd close the windows, lock the doors, call the police and report her for harassment.
I also don't apply for a permit (until I have no choice) because there are only so many handicapped spaces, and there are people who need them more than I do.
