It is 14 this morning. That's 14 Freedom units or -10 Commie units ;) We have roughly 1/8-1/4 of an inch ice underneath the snow. Yes, snow has landed at Johnson Space Center. Took me about 5 minutes to free our gate from the snow/ice built up on the outside. Lots of small flaks falling but some rather large ones in the mix. Not many people out, even less on the main roads here which have a nice layer of white covering up the slippery predator of ice! It is vry lovely out though until you get out of the cover of the buildings and the light wind changes into 34mph gusts of very long duration.

It has been wicked cold here, but this is normally expected for at least one week of the year here, usually the end of January or beginning of February. This particular cold blast has been overstaying its welcome.

It is currently -16, feeling like -25 when wind factor is considered in. We will get to a balmy -1 for a high. It has been this way now for almost two weeks. It appears it will finally break after today with highs of 8, 13, 16, and 17 heading our way.

9 in Austin this morning, with thick blanket of snow.
Our dog refuses to do her business out there. she says under the dining table is fine.

Maybe now more Texans will believe that climate change is a real thing because I guarantee none of us of have ever seen anything like this in many parts of the state.

Heh, yes. My relatives have been sending me pictures as well as some friends who are native Texans. The native Minnesotans who moved there are actually pretty happy however one of them just last week in a cleaning ritual donated all of her winter coats. Well, she won't have them but someone will.

My brother keeps texting me snaps of all the snow in his backyard. In Michigan.

WHAT DOES HE EXPECT FOR FEBRUARY IN MICHIGAN???

The Free State of Texas has a largely independent power grid (ERCOT) that's lost over twenty percent capacity during the icing forcing them to conduct rolling intentional blackouts just like the communist state of California has had to do because they won't rake their forests.

I lost power for a couple of hours yesterday morning due to some icing, but today although there's been power loss all over town from the major part of the storm, I've been lucky so far.

Doing my part with LED bulbs.

We went full LED over the past couple of years as well. I miss the heat that the old bulbs generated a sum total of two days out of the year.

The Mississippi River Bridge in Baton Rouge is frozen. People are driving around the barriers to cross it. That is so crazypants deadly dangerous I just can't even.
