Weighing in here as a veteran: To support and rally behind a man who is so obviously unfit for the position as Commander in Chief and is so toxic to this country and our alliances is willful stupidity.
Maybe I'm just around the wounded too much. If everyone needs a surrender from me on this issue, you've got it. I have to go there again this week and some of the things are so difficult. In those moments, I don't care about politics. I'm just seeing young people without limbs or recognizable faces and thinking what their lives could have been and what they will be. If they need to hang on to some illusion, if that gives them something to live for, I can't be the one to take that away from them. I won't call them stupid.

No, I don't see a big picture on this. I just reacted from my point of view and it could be really distorted.

I'm very anti-war, so it makes me an oddball to have these soldiers and medical personnel become a part of my life. I was horrified as a gay man, but I have to say that I've been treated with nothing but respect. Everyone put their politics aside for me. I have to do it for them.

Thank You for your service.

Fuck you martyr trip and fuck fascist sympathizers. And fuck traitors no matter what uniform they wear.

One has nothing to do with the other, and you have no fucking moral authority. Shove your holier-than-thou fake self pity shit up you ass with a rusty fucking chainsaw. And fuck you chickenshit inability to tell right from wrong.

One thing I will never forgive Trump for, something that should chap the hide of every veteran, particularly those who served in northern Syria, is Trump abruptly pulling troops out of northern Syria, leaving our Kurdish allies flapping in the breeze to be picked off en masse by the Turkish forces, especially after everything the Kurds have done for us. That was completely inexcusable, and also sends a clear message to all our servicemembers who served there that their efforts were for naught. It also sent a clear message to ALL of our allies that we - particularly US servicemembers - can't be trusted or relied upon. Anyone, especially veterans, who still supports Trump after all that is either blind, stupid, or both.

I think that’s the most upset I’ve seen Veritable in 10 or so years of sharing a board. Even through the Cathiees and Lunas and the potpourri of personalities, this is a first. Best not take it lightly as common online disagreement.

I don't have much connection to law enforcement, but I do have a frequent connection to several military bases. The wounded ones are sobering.
You should call them "stupid" to their face and then take a selfie so you can remember what an ignorant ungrateful jackass looks like. Then swap pictures with Brenda.

These soldiers aren't free citizens. Their families are burdened. It's all in our name. Until we start taking care of them properly and valuing their lives as we would our own, we don't get to judge
what they think. They are certainly entitled to that much respect.
Do you care to explain why you’re dragging my name into this?

Both my father and ex-husband were career USAF. The military made sure, while I had a security clearance myself (just for being a spouse), that I was also indoctrinated about what was then a Cold War against the USSR. As if anyone who lived on a SAC base could miss it.

I’m going to find it alarming that any service members are so Trumpian they’ve become pro-Russia, and if you read the article, you’d see their superiors are concerned too. But please keep letting the hard Right media tell you all Dems are anti-military.

So you can take your assumptions about who are the “liberals,” and whether or not we support the troops, and shove ‘em.

You may wish to portray yourself as a Dem, but you keep giving yourself away.

Tourists injured, missing after volcano erupts on New Zealand island

At least one person has been critically injured and a number of others remain unaccounted for after a volcano on a small New Zealand island erupted Monday, prompting officials to dispatch rescuers for dozens of people visiting the scenic tourist destination.

New Zealand Police said it believes there were fewer than 50 people on or near White Island at the time of the eruption, and some of them have since been transported to shore.

"However, a number believed to be on the island are currently unaccounted for," New Zealand Police said in a statement. "Of those transported to shore, at least one has been critically injured."

A no-fly zone near the island has been established, it said.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said during a press conference that police search and rescue was working with the National Emergency Management Agency to assist with the operation.

"A number of people were reportedly injured and being transported to shore," she said. "All our thoughts are with those affected at this stage."

She had said that around 100 people were believed to be on the island, a number later decreased by police.

St John Ambulance told Radio New Zealand that up to 20 people were injured and a mobile triage unit has been dispatched.

The top-line finding: Among the bottom 50 percent of earners, average real annual income even after taxes and transfers has edged up a meager $8,000 since 1970, rising from just over $19,000 to just over $27,000 in 2018.

By contrast, among the top 1 percent of earners, average income even after taxes and transfers has tripled since 1970, rising by more than $800,000, from just over $300,000 to over $1 million in 2018.

Among the top 0.1 percent, average after-tax-and-transfer income has increased fivefold, from just over $1 million in 1970 to over $5 million in 2018. And among the top .01 percent, it has increased nearly sevenfold, from just over $3.5 million to over $24 million.
