They surely had enough money to provide substantial separation bonuses for the managers and pack the executive parachutes. Conservatives applaud these measures and consider the operation a fine success. Take that you woke Wall Street types!

The common theme with the garden variety Tech Bro is "Don't tell me what to do!" and learning the hard way things that have been worked on in increments since Hammurabi. These guys seriously think they're somehow smarter than the sum total of human experience.

Okay so yeah, he's freaking nuts.

Just to be clear, he's talking about a specific actual kid who hung out with his own kids, whose parents Kanye knew and talked to and whose names he gave during the interview (redacted in this clip), and he's now declaring that the child was literally a "fake child". That's like...a borderline schizophrenia kind of delusion.

He has admitted to a bipolar diagnosis and that he refuses to medicate. So no surprise, unfortunately but sad. Especially since he is using his celebrity to spread hate now.

WSJ is subscription, of course, so I couldn't read why they failed. Using their "anti-woke" business philosophy doesn't seem to explain their failure. Did their customers not beat a path to their door? Did customers walk in and turn right around after being told they don't accept LGBTQ persons as customers? Did they not know how to run a bank? Did they run into hiring problems? How did they knee-cap themselves, one wonders?
The article is quite the ride. It was basically a complete circus with a full spectrum of monkeys, clowns, and performers falling from great heights while on fire. It starts with a whole list of things they strived to be which add up to be a full featured, huge, and established financial institution from the start. They did not quite manage to meet those aspirations. They initially sunk a great deal of money into the lawyers and efforts to meet the regulatory demands. To save money they then set up shop in the CEO's mansion. To give you an idea of the context the CEO created we have this snippet:

But staffers began complaining about what they said were Mr. Neugebauer’s volatile behavior and drinking habits, according to people familiar with the matter and a memo from Britt Amos, GloriFi’s former head of human resources, reviewed by the Journal. Ms. Amos left in the spring after clashing with Mr. Neugebauer, and she recounted issues she saw as problems in the memo.

“Several people working at the mansion told me to make sure I leave around six,” Ms. Amos wrote in the memo. “When I inquired why, they stated that after 5 p.m. Toby starts drinking and things at the house deteriorate quickly.”
The rest of the article paints a broad picture of an organization spending money on CPAC appearances, giving Candice Owens money for endorsements, and failing to create the infrastructure necessary to do any of that financial services thing. The CEO quickly alienated everybody around him and failed to live up to any of his financial commitments to the organizations that were required to develop the organization's financial structures. So, it was a financial institution that had no respect for financial obligations, and everybody was left standing alone wondering how it could have all gone wrong.

This is how the article ends:

A technology vendor, EastBanc Technologies LLC, filed a lawsuit in Washington, D.C., in July seeking more than $2.4 million for what the company said were unpaid invoices and fees. GloriFi admitted it didn’t pay certain invoices in a response filed in September. It also filed its own legal claim against the vendor, accusing it of fraud and providing products that “were plagued with defects and unusable.”

On a call with investors in September, Mr. Neugebauer suggested the company might accelerate a plan already in the works to offer financial services to Latinos. Mr. Neugebauer expressed the idea that people were trying to hurt GloriFi, and his wife read a Bible passage about adversity.

In the August interview, Mr. Neugebauer spoke of the company with emotion, his blue eyes filling with tears. “This is a child of mine that I’m so proud of that I can hardly stand it,” he said.
Pro-Tip: When the primary officers at your bank start quoting the bible to explain why things are not going so well it might be time to re-evaluate your relationship.

Sounds to have been a riot working there

Staffers at software company Unqork Inc., which was helping build GloriFi’s insurance product, attended an April video call where a GloriFi senior manager “launched into a rude and aggressive tirade” at Unqork’s team and his own GloriFi team, according to a partially redacted lawsuit the vendor filed in New York in September against GloriFi alleging a breach of its contract.

Unqork argued in the suit that GloriFi stopped making payments even though the vendor lived up to its obligations despite internal dysfunction at the startup, and that delays in the product were caused by GloriFi’s failure to meet its own deadlines.
After appearing to leave the call, the senior manager later returned on camera “in a state of undress, on a bed with a companion who was similarly in a state of undress,” the lawsuit alleged. The senior manager isn’t named in the suit.

Bet he's a big proponent of "law and order", for other people. Guess he wanted to emulate his hero's grifting ways and a big dash of "blame everything on antifa and BLM", also like his hero. I wonder if this guy was down on Lake Street after George Floyd's death, contributing to the chaos.

According to Molla, his camper was targeted because it had a Trump 2020 flag displayed on it, investigators said. However, in reality, Molla started his own property on fire and spray painted the graffiti on his own garage, according to authorities.
After submitting more than $300,000 in fraudulent insurance claims, he received approximately $61,000 from his insurance company, investigators said.
Molla also received more than $17,000 from individual donors who sent their money to him using GoFundMe, according to investigators.

Likely they got their degrees at Trump University.

Holy rusty f-word!
The first trial in Texas ended with a $49 million verdict, so we're now well over one billion dollars - and there are still six more trials.

If this week ends with Jones barricading himself in his office with a shotgun and blowing his brains out, I won't be surprised. Unfortunately, he's the kind of PoS who'll try to take others down with him, so I hope the people in his vicinity have invested in good security.

Alternatively, he may also try some crazy stunt like fleeing to Russia with a suitcase full of gold and diamonds.

Yeah but IIRC the award in Texas was instantly nerfed by law, some kind of cap on awards of that kind - and it was a very low cap too, like less than $1M. So lame.

I'm kinda thinking there's prolly some legal red tape that will nerf this award too, but not by TOO much I hope - and anyways, the verdict really does speak for itself too even if the award gets changed later.

If the cap does apply, the amount would still be about $4.5 million.

I wanna see someone take Katy Perry's Dark Horse video and deep fake Putin being approached by a parade of rich assholes only to have each one annihilated.

That law was specific to Texas, it won't save him in Connecticut.
