Would it? I thought the rule was to use "an" before words starting with a vowel unless the vowel is pronounced like a consonant. So "an understanding" (soft u) vs "a union" (hard u, pronounced like the "y" in "youth") rather than "an union."Hmmm, now I am queation it. A sounds "natural" but an would be "grammatical."
