Tonight I'm having a meat 'pot' pie for dinner.

I found this at the grocery store last week and had to try it:

Be'f pot pie. lol

I'll report back on how it turns out.

You put the butter in the pan, you grill both sides of the slices of bread. Wait for the bread to cool a bit then you spread the chocolate syrup, then add the banana slices, and then the whipped cream.

PLACE OTHER SLICE OF BREAD ON TOP.

GAWH!!!!

Not bad. I'm not really sure it's vegan, but...The "meat" itself definitely tasted like the 'e' was missing, but it was kind of close, not horrible or anything, including the texture. And the gravy passed the 'sop it up with a slice of bread' taste test.

I'll have to give the Chick'n one a try next time...

It's not vegan. It has milk in it.

I usually expect good things from Marie Callenders. Even though I'm a meat-eater, I'll have to give these a try.

Maybe because people who like meat but want to reduce (even completely) the amount they eat still miss their favourite foods they grew up eating? Once in while when they get cravings and may eat something that is close enough. They can still eat tofu-shaped tofu other times. Not sure why that is strange.

Well what really bugs me, that they want to name it as close as possible to the meat product as well.
Especially when prepacked in supermarkets.
F*** we even have a brand now a days called Vegitarische slager (Vegitarian butcher).

I don't care if people don't want to eat meat. But trying to lure me into that tofu-rubbish as well, no thanks.
I eat much less meat than I used to, but when I want goulash, it should be meat.
And when in a supermarket the package next to it is labeled goelash and is made out of tofu junk, I can't really appreciate that.
I don't want to shop like inspector Columbo to avoid ending up with tofu crap in soja sauce or whatever.

It's January. Side gets extra grumpy in January. And February. And March...
Yup. Winter blues.
I have it almost every year. Despite eating extra vitamin D3.
And this years Corona related house arrest and the dull grey weather for weeks in a row already don't help.

I like to try new things.

I’ve never had cream of wheat. I think my mom used to eat it when young. Anyhow, I just googled it and I’m sorry, I know many love it and I’m sure it can’t be all that bad but, it doesn’t look very appealing.

I love porridge (oats) but I make it thick.

Do you just eat this with a spoon? In a cup? Is it better when it sets? Would it be okay if I made it thicker? I’m googling images but you just see it in a bowl. I prefer to chew things so I’m thinking of adding nuts and fruit like I do with yogourt. Can you toast the farina a bit before adding milk just to add taste?
I used to eat it growing up. I'd make it thick (so that answers that question), then add a bit of milk and butter to it, and sometimes a bit of maple syrup. It's actually pretty good. That Cream of Wheat in your image there is way too runny for my tastes.

Myrna's listening! :freakout:
