I guess Qrazy is alive and well and living in Paris.
I can't think of any reason that doesn't involve belief in at least some of the more paranoid vaccinée myths that would make a person believe that that was a rational course of action. I know some people are vaccine hesitant, but she had to have believed the vaccine contained something really evil, or that the virus was a scam, or something like that.

When is it appropriate to get a covid test?

Yesterday I felt tired and by midmorning I was sneezing. By evening my nose was runny, but I wasn't running a temperature and my blood oxygen levels were normal (for me). Today I'm fine. Mild cold? Allergy attack? Covid?

I have no idea where the line between prudence and carelessness lies when we're in the middle of a pandemic.

The advice we're given here is

If you have any of these 3 coronavirus (COVID-19) symptoms, even if mild, use this service to get a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test as soon as possible:

• a high temperature
• a new, continuous cough
• you’ve lost your sense of smell or taste or they’ve changed

Order COVID-19 rapid lateral flow tests

You can no longer order free PCR tests from the NHS.

Otherwise, if you're asymptomatic, tests are advised if

• you’ve been in contact with someone who’s tested positive
• you’ve been asked to get a test by a local council or someone from NHS Test and Trace
• a GP or other health professional has asked you to get a test
• you’re taking part in a government pilot project
• you’ve been asked to get a test to confirm a positive result
• you’ve received an unclear result and were told to get a second test
• you need to get a test for someone you live with who has symptoms
• you’re in the National Tactical Response Group

So, while you'll presumably be guided by your local public health authorities, if you were in the UK, you probably wouldn't be advised to have one.

VERY well said. I think that it is absolutely THIS:

High on a delusional mix of rugged individualism, toxic masculine bravado, pseudoscientific faith in vitamin supplements, and a belief that God would pull them through, they were convinced they were safe.

Only others were at risk — the less good people.

The ones who don’t do CrossFit, or go to a megachurch, or better still, a CrossFit in a megachurch.

The ones who don’t settle for the “power of positive thinking,” like FOX host Jesse Watters, who insisted that’s all he would need should he become infected.

The ones who place their faith in science rather than a Bible study group.

And for people like that? Who cares? To the right, those people don’t count.
