This is exactly what happens. His experience would be no different than any other American's that have allegedly owed money to the IRS. The burden of proof is on the tax payer and the government will seize or garnish as they please.
Good lord. Over here, HMRC can raid your bank account, but only right at the end of the process, if you don't dispute that you owe them the money but simply won't pay.

It's very much a last resort, I think, and you'd have every opportunity to contest the tax assessment through the appeals procedure (and the courts if necessary) before things got that far.

I thought all those guns were supposed to be to protect Republicans' property against an overbearing and rapacious federal government intent on seizing it, but maybe I misunderstood the matter.

I agree up to a point. Only the 90k should have been frozen. Any other such as direct deposits from employment income or other such not directly related to the crime(s) should be left alone. Punish the individual, not the wives and children of those individuals (unless they participated, of course, looking at the assTrumpet family). We're on the same page on everything else.
The way it works here, and how I wrongly assumed it would work in the US, early on in the investigation, the prosecutors will try to persuade a judge that, on the balance of probabilities, part or all of the defendant's assets are the proceeds of crime and subject to confiscation proceedings.

The judge, if persuaded to the civil standard, will freeze the assets that are likely to subject to confiscation if the investigation results in a prosecution and conviction, and appoint an administrator to protect them until the matter is resolved one way or another, but that's only the assets the prosecution say are the fruits of criminal activity, and they remain the defendant's property until after a court order following trial and conviction.

They use RICO as a basis to be able to do what they do. RICO was needed at the time to take down Mafia bosses. Since then it has been used to take down the big dogs in illegal drugs, regardless of citizenship. They figured out they could use RICO against the little guy (not the dealer) when they launched the war on drugs and get to the higher ups by "going easy on them" if they gave up their dealer(s). Intimidation. RICO has been used as an excuse to confiscate a lot of things that should never have been touched ever since then.

When the U.S. Attorney decides to indict someone under RICO, they have the option of seeking a pre-trial restraining order or injunction to temporarily seize a defendant's assets and prevent the transfer of potentially forfeitable property, as well as require the defendant to put up a performance bond. This provision was placed in the law because the owners of Mafia-related shell corporations often absconded with the assets. An injunction or performance bond ensures that there is something to seize in the event of a guilty verdict.

I don't know how to read this. Either someone's got something on him, or there's enough out there to totally blow open the house and the senate to 20 years of Democratic rule, or he's sitting on something that would send one of the Trump supreme court justices to prison. And he'll be blamed for it.

That headline should read "Inside the fractured relationship between the Capitol Police and REPUBLICAN members of Congress."

To the surprise of no one, except, perhaps, the clueless Joe Machin, the Republicans blocked the creation of a bipartisan 1/6 commission.
That's not the only step the Dems can take, of course (Benghazi, anyone?), and I suppose they had to try it before doing something like appointing a special counsel or a select committee, which, according to the perennially "concerned" Susan Collins "won't have credibility with people like (her)" (whereas the former guy did? 😣).
Will any Republican have the gall to complain about no bipartisanship now? Of course.
And now for something particularly nauseating :

Oh, I can't even read that without wanting to throw up! Sure, she was a member of the US Armed Forces. But just because you put on a uniform and wave a US flag around doesn't mean you honorably love and serve the country, unless "honorable" includes participating in an insurrection against the nation's Capitol with the specific intent of disrupting the nation's democratic processes because it didn't go your way!

This does nothing more than make veterans like me look bad.

The 'lady'who's selling the 'parody' Holocaust badges was there for the coup attempt.
And she doesn't like being called a domestic terrorist, imagine that.
