Newsmax issued an apology to an employee of Dominion Voting Systems who had named the media outlet in a defamation suit over false claims that he manipulated votes in the 2020 presidential race.
The suit was filed in December by Eric Coomer, director of product strategy and security for the company, after he had been the subject of conspiracy theories spread on the right, in sync with Donald Trump’s claims that the election was stolen from him.
In a statement posted on its website, the media outlet said, “Newsmax would like to clarify its coverage of Dr. Coomer and note that while Newsmax initially covered claims by President Trump’s lawyers, supporters and others that Dr. Coomer played a role in manipulating Dominion voting machines, Dominion voting software, and the final vote counts in the 2020 presidential election, Newsmax subsequently found no evidence that such allegations were true. Many of the states whose results were contested by the Trump campaign after the November 2020 election have conducted extensive recounts and audits, and each of these states certified the results as legal and final.”
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) is reportedly worried about at least one thing in particular if Congress successfully put together a bipartisan commission to study the Capitol insurrection on January 6: Being forced to share under oath his allegedly explosive communications with then-President Donald Trump on that day.
CNN correspondent Jamie Gangel reported on Wednesday that McCarthy is, in her words, “very concerned” that the commission would call on him to testify on his call with Trump in which the GOP leader pleaded the President to call off the mob of his supporters.
“[McCarthy] does not want to do that,” Gangel said.
Let's not forget Mike Pompous who was "kidding" about another 45 term.
Well, I've held all along that Fox and other of these far right propaganda machines all need to be held accountable for their part in this mess.
So, did he just add contempt of court onto everything else?
That, and any leniency the judge may have possibly had for this moron is gone. So, did he just add contempt of court onto everything else?

The Daughter Of A Trump Rioter Arrested At The Capitol Says She Is "Ashamed And Disgusted"

Douglas was a member of the Hiwaymen, a fringe neo-Confederate group that has attended anti-abortion protests and demonstrations against removing Confederate statues, according to his social media posts.
Real winner there. It must have been difficult growing up with this man. She's a strong person to have rejected his values, something that not everyone is able to do.Douglas was also involved in other extremist groups including the anti-government militia group called Three Percenters and a pro-Confederate group called Dixie Defenders.
The insurrection hearing descended into a useless shouting match, with most lawmakers peppering witnesses with "gotcha" questions instead of posing genuine fact-finding inquiries.
Democrats tried, rather unsuccessfully, to get Miller and Rosen to criticize Trump. Republicans tried to get the witnesses to sign onto some of their dubious theories about the attack. Both sides used cherry-picked facts to push incomplete and inaccurate narratives about January 6.
Rep. Stephen Lynch, a Massachusetts Democrat, tried to get Miller to blame Trump for the riot, which he did previously to VICE. When Miller partially walked back his critique, Lynch said he was reversing himself. But Miller responded, "absolutely not, that's ridiculous." Without missing a beat, Lynch retorted, "you're ridiculous."
That dispute was a perfect example of why Congress appears unlikely to get to the bottom of what happened on its own. Partisan speeches and trick questions dominated the day. Very few new facts were unearthed. Everyone claimed they wanted to get to the truth, but when it was their turn to ask questions, most lawmakers repeated talking points and tried to dunk on the other party.
A bipartisan array of former officials and experts have said a 9/11-style commission would be better suited to conduct a serious investigation, but efforts to launch a commission have stalled.
