Three wet "growing" years in a row. This is just the start. Feb-june will calm down a bit, spring is cool cloudy and dampish, but come July-october CA will be plagued with wildfires the likes of which we haven't yet seen.

I really should sell and get the hell out... But I'd rather risk wildfire than move into a maga state.

A friend who is deep into the woo-woo bs was all aflutter because she "had to get on Zoom" this morning for an "emergency prayer meeting" about the fire.

My suggestion that maybe while they're there they could all chip in 10 bucks for some doughnuts or sandwiches for the firefighters was not well received. Reflecting on it, I probably didn't need to add, "You know -- something that would actually DO something."

I have a black aura and my chakras are misaligned. Or they need new bushings or something.

Emergency prayer meeting... Because apparently God wasn't aware of the fires happening.

A West Coast-based real estate mogul and Elon Musk fan named Keith Wasserman triggered a tidal wave of schadenfreude on social media after begging for "private firefighters" to come "protect our home" in the city as it's menaced by raging wildfires.

But Wasserman didn't get much pity online. Instead, he was swiftly mocked for asking for special treatment while thousands of Californians had no choice but to leave their homes behind — especially because, netizens were quick to point, a mere three months ago, Wasserman begged president-elect Donald Trump to cut taxes.

At least he's not begging for taxpayer-funded firefighters to come to the rescue - though a true libertarian would go and buy firefighting equipment, then get to work.

OMG.

A lot of what people think of as Hollywood is just blocks away. The Chinese Theater. The Magic Castle. Yes, Frederick's of Hollywood (if it is still there ...), The Walk of Fame, The Capitol Records Tower, The Comedy Store (the real, original one), Sunset Strip, the notorious Sunset Marquis, Musso and Frank's Restaurant, and on and on. If it hops the 101 freeway, it is headed for Griffith Observatory and the Greek Theater up in Griffith Park.

More grimly, there's a children's hospital in that immediate area, too.

This was already awful. I'm so sad.

Back in SLU when Fort Mac was burning in Canada some Lolbertarian idiot posted an attack on Trudeau for turning down Russia’s offer of water bombers.

Which was extra funnysad to me because I personally knew the person doing the equipment requisitions at the behest of the people making the decisions. And those decision makers weren’t anywhere near Ottawa.
