Continuing this thread from our old home at SLU, as California's fire season is showing no sign of letting up.

The Delta Fire north of Redding is holding at 60,705 acres and 98 percent containment. Warm, dry weather is expected to build in this week.

The Oak Fire near Oakhurst in Madera County, north of Fresno, has grown to 390 acres, and is now 35 percent contained. 125 structures are in the path of the fire, which is burning just south of where the Ferguson Fire burned earlier this summer.

The Charlie Fire near Castaic in northern Los Angeles County grew slightly to 3,380 acres, and is now 20 percent contained. Evacuations that had been ordered as a precaution yesterday have been lifted.

The Oak Fire near Oakhurst in Madera County has been held to 360 acres, and is now 50 percent contained. The acreage was originally reported at 390 acres, but better mapping reduced the area.

The Charlie Fire near Castaic in northern Los Angeles County is reported as remaining at 3,380 acres and is now 50 percent contained, according to Los Angeles Fire Department via CalFire. There was no local news coverage on that fire today.

The Delta Fire north of Redding remains at 60,705 acres and 98 percent containment. A small spot fire got started near the Delta Fire burn area north of Lake Shasta and has burned about 5-7 acres and spread smoke in the area. Total containment of the Delta Fire is expected Thursday.

The Delta Fire north of Redding grew by 1,799 acres thanks to the spot fires that sparked in Bear Gulch, and is now at 62,504 acres (update since news article was published). Containment remains at 98 percent overall. Expected full containment date has been pushed back to Saturday.

The Delta Fire north of Redding is reported at 62,159 acres according to InciWeb (I'm getting conflicting reports of the acreage, so I'm going with the numbers on InciWeb). Containment fell slightly to 97 percent, due to the larger spot fire spawned a couple of days ago jumping its containment line. Mandatory evacuations have been issued for areas around that spot fire as winds whip flames.

A new fire has started east of Redding. Dubbed the Silver Fire, it has burned 32 acres and is 70 percent contained. Evacuations have been ordered for the area and are still in effect, though forward progress of the fire has been stopped.

The Delta Fire north of Redding has grown slightly, to 63,293 acres, while containment remains at 97 percent. This is largely due to the spot fire in Bear Gulch that has burned 2,376 acres since it sparked a few days ago.

The Silver Fire east of Redding is being reported at 76 acres and 90 percent containment, according to CalFire. There is no local news about it today, and it is not in InciWeb.

After having burned a scant 360 acres and causing some evacuation orders to be issued, the Oak Fire near Oakhurst in Madera County north of Fresno is now fully contained.

There is no update on the Charlie Fire near Castaic in northern Los Angeles County.

The Delta Fire north of Redding continues to remain at 63,293 acres and 97 percent containment. The fire is little more than smoldering logs and brush, thanks to rain that has drenched the area over the last couple of days. However, ironically, the very rain that is damping the fire is also making it difficult for firefighters to complete the containment lines around it. And there is worry that when warm, dry weather returns, that the smoldering fire could reflash.

After burning 63,311 acres and 20 structures, and closing Interstate 5 for a period of time, the Delta Fire north of Redding, which started just over a month ago, is finally contained.

Just as a reminder that the fire season is not over, a new fire sparked east of Red Bluff, south of Redding, in Tehama County. Dubbed the Sun Fire, it has already burned 3,848 acres and is 40 percent contained. Evacuation advisories are in place.

Another fire sparked east of Suisun City in Solano County, near Travis Air Force Base. It has burned around 4,000 acres. Containment is not known.

The Branscombe Fire east of Suisun City in Solano County has burned 4,700 acres and has moved into marshland, making fighting the fire difficult. The fire burned four houses and three barns over the past two days. It is now 80 percent contained.
