I was tired and fell asleep and missed most of it, though it was still about 60 percent+ when I saw it at 2:20. Sun looked like a crescent moon. Don't worry, I had the proper protection. Looked a bit like a late summer afternoon light wise. Things had a sharper look. It was cool.

Well, I didn’t go up on my roof, I went over to my niece’s + bf and we watched from… her roof! ha ha But at least we could all spot each other.

We saw , I think, Venus, but not Jupiter. Or vice-versa, I forget. Very cool to hear how quiet it was (close to downtown). No car sounds, birds, people, etc. And cold!
My nephew, or rather boyfriend of niece, got a little sunburned. Beer, ice-cream sandwiches, and pringles.

I think that almost as rememberable as watching the eclipse for me was the ride over in the metro. I have NEVER been in a train so packed. I should have left earlier but it didn’t even cross my mind. Oops

I’ve been in a packed metro before after shows or games, etc. but this was way beyond sardines level. I couldn’t help thinking about COVID and how I haven’t been among so many people in, well, years. I was scared there would be some kind of electrical problem and that we would all be stuck between stations and miss the eclipse. I was smooshed against the door, and at each station, people were pushing in even though there was no more room. LOL Fucking horror show. More dangerous than any ladder…

Anyway, watching the one minute of full eclipse without glasses was beautiful (not long enough) and well worth it.

For the record, darkness and rain still surround us; I'm telling y'all, the moon has caused permanent damage to the sun. Thanks Obiden!
Heck it starts to darken here again, just like yesterday evening.
You might be on to something here Khamon.

Hopefully those whom it concerns can still read the article.
This reminds me of the old joke about the guy who broke his arm.

"Doctor, when my arm heals will I be able to play the violin?"

"I should think so, yes."

"Great! I always wanted to play the violin!"

Being in an only 40-something percent coverage area, I viewed the eclipse by poking a small hole in a piece of paper and holding it over another and letting the light shine through. No eye damage here.

A colander works perfectly too, as long as it has round holes. You can have a whole legion of little eclipses! That's how I always observed them before this year, when I finally had some eclipse glasses ready.

.. :(

No one usually mentions that staring at the sun during an eclipse is no more harmful than staring at the sun during any sunny day. It just isn't something people normally do. The eclipse came out for about 1/4 second from the clouds. I saw it and I'm pretty sure I'm ok.

I always wondered if there was some sort of additional, more harmful radiation or something that happened due to, I dunno, some sort of refracting around the moon or something.
