Former Vice President Joe Biden will sweep Tuesday's races and win the Arizona, Illinois and Florida Democratic primaries, CNN projects, victories that will allow him to substantially expand his delegate lead over Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders as they vie for the Democratic nomination.

Why I think Sanders should concede the nomination: As of right now, Sanders needs 63% more delegates per state than he has got so far in the remaining primaries to reach the 1991 delegate count to secure the nomination. But he is only polling 63% as high as Biden (32.5 to 51.3%), so this is unlikely to happen. He'll continue to collect a smaller share of delegates rather than larger.

By staying in the race past this week he would be causing older voters and poll workers to get out and vote more, exposing them to the virus. So this is a public health matter. He could ask Biden to support some of his favored policies in return for bowing out, and call it a win. At the same time, the remaining states need to add or extend early voting/vote by mail, so we have fewer crowds on whatever the primary day is. Some states already do this, but not all of them.
