I don't know that much about her - I personally would like to see Susan Rice as VP.
Since I live in Georgia, I know a bit more. Abrams was in the state legislature, and rose to minority leader. Then she ran for governor, and lost to Brian Kemp by two points, which is very close for this state. Since then she has been working on voter registration & turnout.

So -those of you supporting Bernie (as I am); what's your take on this?

[edit]
Personally speaking, the Rogan thing pissed me off at the time, and I thought it was a mistake. I gotta say that I under-estimated how much of a mistake, though.
[edit II]
I checked the sources; one's a repost of a huffpost story, the other is a repost of a national-fucking-review article

I was had; mea culpa
Whatever the sources - I’m with AOC on these disagreements; she’s sticking up for her constituents. I don’t think it’s right to blame her for anything related to the vote for Sanders. He’s trying to take a kind of middle path, and that’s probably preparation for supporting the nominee in the general.

We must persevere. I hope someday we’ll see Senator AOC running for President :)

We're not doctors, and those who are can't ethically diagnose anything. What is obvious to anyone being honest with themselves is that he is not nearly as polished and sharp as he used to be.
Pretty big difference between "not nearly as polished and sharp as he used to be" and the sort of cognitive decline and dementia that a lot of Sanders supporters were diagnosing only last week, would you not agree? (No idea if they were medically qualified or not).

I'm not nearly as sharp and polished as was I a few years ago, either, and I only hope I'm in as good shape as Biden seems now to be when I reach his age.

The man's struggling with a speech impediment, for heaven's sake.

But if Republicans are the ones taking care of working class needs? It is game over.
I wonder what would happen if Trump were to tweet: "If Bernie's M4A bill crosses my desk, I'll sign it."
Trump apparently wants to take up Yang's UBI, in the amount of $1000 or more. Not sure the duration, no time to check, but it's googlable. Apparently, he has spoken to Yang.

Andrew Yang has spoken with Trump officials about a plan to directly give Americans cash to counter the coronavirus slump

On Twitter Yang is urging Biden and Sanders to be part of cash relief for the people.

Perhaps I'm misunderstanding things, but from the press reports I've read, the US government is about to send out cheques for $1000 once, as a temporary measure to tide people over while more long-term and specific forms of assistance are devised.

That's not UBI.

There's this being floated, too:

Personally, he appears a shadow of the man he used to be, to me. I don't care what other people want to say about it. He seems to have some issues with impulse control and lacking judgment, looking at some of the things he's said to people. I was being kind to phrase it the way I did. Do I think it's dementia? Not necessarily. But he has made me wonder more than several times about him. If it was Bernie doing it, the shit we'd hear...

Sanders's proposal (he's still a senator and plans to introduce this as legislation):

1. Planning to spend more than $2T
2. Medicare could cover all medical needs during crisis, not just coronavirus
3. Increase availability of ICUs and ventilators
4. Increase availability of test kits and speed at which they are processed
5. Invoke defense production act to produce in the USA supplies such as masks, ventilators, protective equipment
6. National guard, army corps of engineers, other military resources activated to build mobile hospitals and testing facilities (I heard this was coming this week regardless), assist providers, re-open closed hospitals in under-served areas
7. expand community health centers
8. laid off workers would continue to receive their paychecks (boosting unemployment to 100% including tips, and including people who otherwise would be "exempt", cap at $75K/yr, but also mentioned paying businesses to keep people on the payroll)
9. $2000 per household, per month UBI (admits not all of these will happen, and this one is just an option)
10. seniors, people with disabilities, families with children, have access to food (meals on wheels, school meals, food stamps)
11. moratorium on evictions, foreclosures, utility shutoffs, suspend payments on mortgage loans (?), restore shutoff utilities, rental assistance
12. wave all student loan payments for duration of crisis
13. shelter provided for homeless, quarantined and others displaced
14. suspend farm service agency payments, extend crop insurance and emergency loans, rural development loans
15. make sure this crisis is not another money-making opportunity for corporate america and wall street
16. The vaccine is to be free, and drugs developed for the crisis with tax money are to be sold at cost

skip to 38:00

ETA sorry, this belongs in one of the coronavirus threads

A means tested basic income for the duration of the crisis is a good idea, and regardless of who wins the nomination but especially Biden, it will be difficult to make the case against Trump if he makes it happen.

Your information is old (ETA possibly, I'm still reading--by the math, $1T would be about 4 months). $1K one-time was discussed, but Trump seems to be on-board with $1K-$2K per month for duration of crisis.

There's this being floated, too:

Yes, but these are all Desperately needed things Democrats are doing so there’s no way to demonize it into a conspiracy or lie about how it works in Trump’s favor, so this will be ignored. It’s the GOP that wants to give us free money, Shiloh. Don’t you understand that?

Without Florida and Illinois (and most likely Arizona), is there any path forward for Sanders?

Good, though I expect the stupidity on my FB is going to be annoying for a bit.

No. But he’s going to continue to take donations from poor people during a pandemic anyway.
