Trump can try all he wants to make Pixy Stix a thing again, but it's just not gonna happen.
May the patron saint of vaping protect our paltry devices from the crab-like thoughts and attentions of the fat-fingered grabby one!

Trump wants to bribe foreign officials legally again: Donald Trump signed an executive order on Monday directing the US justice department to halt prosecuting Americans accused of bribing foreign government officials to win business.

The order instructs the US attorney general, Pam Bondi, to pause prosecutions under the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act of 1977 until she issues revised enforcement guidance that promotes American competitiveness.

“Future FCPA investigations and enforcement actions will be governed by this new guidance and must be approved by the attorney general,” the document said.

According to the White House, the law puts US firms at a disadvantage to foreign competitors because they cannot engage in practices that are “common among international competitors, creating an uneven playing field”.

It'll be down. $4.99 or $4.98 is seen by many as 'around $4' but $5 is $5
Say what? That doesn't make any sense. Everything I've read about this says payment will round UP. If an item is set for sale at $4.99, payment would round up to the nearest nickel, which in this case means $5.

If, for marketing purposes, retailers are loathe to have prices at $5, then they will reset the price to $4.95.

Sales tax will make pricing individual items impossible to predict how the final price will turn out.

Don't worry, Yanks, Canadians looked just as ridiculous in 2012 lighting our hair on fire over eliminating the penny. (And we round off.)

Part of why I put 'round' in single quotes. Mathematical rounding shifts up at 5 but transactional 'rounding' tends to be a bit more ambiguous.

Also, I remember GST being pre-calculated in the price and not at the register.

But, I also remember prices commonly being AU$n.49, AU$n.59, and AU$n.99.

I just don't recall what I was getting in change because that requires more peripheral awareness than I typically exhibit (<3 ADHD).

Since there ae
Honestly, getting rid of pennies is probably a good idea. Several other countries have done it.
They're not getting rid of them, though. There's tens of billions of them still in circulation (or sitting in people's coin jars, or behind their sofa cushions, or sitting uncirculated in bank vaults).
