Who's gonna tell Mangy Marge that TFG was responsible for that?
There was an order for them to stand down. It didn't come from the Democrats.
There no way Wray could give them the answers they want, unless he lies or does done fancy tap dancing around the truth.

It anyone's interested, here's the definition of terrorism in English and Welsh law.

The significance, at least in the UK, of something falling with the definition of terrorism is that it it may give the police a whole range of investigatory powers they wouldn't otherwise have, and potentially restricts the rights of suspects during the investigation (sometimes quite considerably) in various ways. It also potentially criminalises activities that would not otherwise be unlawful, and aggravates other criminal offences considerably.

It also makes a huge difference at the sentencing phase of any trial.

I don't think a mob would make it inside the Palace of Westminster, but if a mob were to invade Parliament in an attempt to overturn an election, I think we'd prosecute it as terrorism.

And if American tourists ever run riot in the Tower, the Yeomen Warders have pikes and they aren't afraid to use them (they also have somewhat more modern weaponry close to hand, of course, and several companies of regular soldiers -- they are guarding the crown jewels, after all).

What British people expected from American tourists was bad enough back in the Reagan era.
I think it's be afraid to go now. Thanks, MAGAts.

Thing is, we had a large contingent of National Guardsmen close by that was NEVER activated on 1/6 until the damage had already been done - and that's actually one of the central thrusts of the 1/6 committee. But under normal circumstances, 20,000 protestors would never have gotten to the doors of our capitol before running into skirmish lines of troops carrying loaded rifles.

It's one thing to point to the enforcement available in case of a riot, but the real test is in how quickly it's called up. That's where our former guy screwed up big, and his advisors didn't do much to help the situation.

He wanted to coup to succeed, so of course he interfered with the National Guard coming. From his POV it was Pence who screwed up.

From my pov, there was no screw up - it was all pre-meditated. And I hope that every military member involved is court marshalled.

“You called yourself and everyone else patriots, but that’s not patriotism,” Judge Amy Berman Jackson said of defendant Karl Dresch. “Patriotism is loyalty to country, loyalty to the Constitution, not loyalty to a head of state. That is the tyranny we rejected on July 4.”

Jackson, known for her sharp criticism of the Trump administration’s moves, called Dresch an “enthusiastic participant” in the effort “to subvert democracy, to stop the will of the people and replace it with the will of the mob.”

Will they learn it? Doubtful.
