As for Trump getting more votes in 2020 than in 2016, the huge turnout this time was not just composed of Democrats. There are a large number of Republicans, just like Democrats who sat out in 16 because they hated Trump. But the lead up to this election was incredible, more so than in 16, and it was clear that Democrats were fully capable of getting out huge numbers, so the Republicans responded in kind.

One of the main reasons I think that people still vote republicans into office is one word "socialism", which I've heard EVERY SINGLE ONE of my right leaning acquaintances vomit out in our conversations on politics. It's like it's ingrained in their genes to hate anything that even resembles it. You can point out all manner of programs, infrastructure, etc that they benefit from that is a form of socialism, but it does no good. They are consumed with fear over becoming a country that they actually have no concept for what that would look like. They no more have a clue than anything, but they know how to spell it and shout it out whenever they think a Democrat is within earshot.

I turned to Fox after Trumps announcement of victory last night, and the response by anchors was “stunned and very negative“. I checked Fox this morning, they are the same.

I will not watch tucker, Laura, Hannity, etc. but I am sure they are backing Trump up.

So, apparently, the area not yet counted is Fulton County in Georgia. IE, The biggest chunk of Atlanta. That's likely why its still not declared yet.

Also, if more ballots from mailed in voting happen to show up I do hope that those votes will be counted too.

ETA: We really need to switch back to something closer to what the long space between election and new office holders taking office was -for- and wait a week for ballots to be counted and then announce. Good lord, the sheer stupidity of the current instant gratification system is.....

Here's another idea: void gerrymandering and pass Federal laws that allow states to begin counting mail-in ballots before Election Day. Give them the funds to upgrade their equipment and processes. Streamline it.

Last night after warning viewers about how many ballots wouldn't be counted until later, those same media outlets proceeded to project winners with less than 10% of the vote in. That needs to stop.

17 states already count the ballots before election day. They don't make the results public until election day though.

I have always tried to believe in the essential goodness of humanity. I have always known that there are bad people, but after last night, no matter who wins, I am disgusted by the considerable number of my fellow countrymen who are, if not racist and bullying themselves, OK with it.

Trump campaign files Michigan lawsuit demanding vote count be halted statewide

The Trump campaign has filed a lawsuit in Michigan state court demanding the vote count be halted statewide until representatives from the campaign are provided meaningful access to observe mail-in ballots being opened and processed.
Lawyers for the campaign say the secretary of state is violating the Michigan Constitution and Michigan election law by “allowing absent voter ballots to be processed and counted without bipartisan teams and without allowing challengers to observe the process.”

Okay, here is the thing. Florida counts mail-in ballots as they come in - the results do not get shown until after polls close, and if it were being used to abuse the data, they wouldn't resort to hiding boxes of ballots at post offices, or throwing them out [which is so incredibly illegal..... ]
