There is a tiny bit of truth there though, in that the Arizona call isn't as strong as most of them. Still quite likely but not "there's literally not enough votes left to overtake the leader" likely.

At the time, everyone was complaining he was putting Trump's chances too high -- his prediction was that HRC would probably win the popular vote, which she did, but that Trump had about a 1 in 3 chance of winning the electoral college -- the NYT gave him about 1 in 10.

i Think it more likely that there are some people of all colors who vote entirely based on “what’s in it for me”.

Actually, I have a home, plenty of food, health insurance, white skin, and am invested in the stock market. So Trump doesn’t really present much threat to me. But what about the caged children? What about the massacre in El Paso? What about the raging pandemic on the border and everywhere else? Or Climate change?

Besides, it would make the state more important than Vegas, at least for a little bit, if its their votes that do it.

as near as I can tell Ga, NC, Nevada and Pennsylvania are al that stands between this nightmare continuing or maybe ending, or at least getting less worse.

I think this thread is a good example of why we (liberal-ish type folks) don't really understand what's going on with Trump or the threat he poses. We think good people will stand up to him because we know what he is and who he supports.

The thing is, a huge portion of America doesn't know that. They get their news from Fox. They get their news from Facebook. They listen day after day to "pundits" talking about how fair and open Trump is. They listen to these same talking heads talk about how "good is he for the black community". They don't know about the white supremacists or think its fake news. They have been told by people they trust all along that the criminal investigations are just political harassment. They thought there were actual literal caravans of Mexicans coming because "trusted sources" told them there were and they don't question. Many of these people were never taught critical thinking and were instead indoctrinated in a culture where obeying religious and authority figures is all important.

Yes, we have huge issues with race and with bigotry of all kinds. Also, yes - people are basically good. But, huge portions of the populace don't see past the shiny things they are shown by the people they /want/ to be good and strong for them. We've got a lot of work to do, not just healing - but teaching each other to question in ways that aren't so divisive that we start thinking in tribes instead of thinking as humans.

In my opinion this year's election was inevitable when Republicans and Megacorps wanting a sheeplike populace to allow them to continue to grow richer and richer started crushing the education systems in "red states". First, you need people who won't question you, even as you work to make their lives worse. Then, you can do what you want to them. We have to fix so many things - but we really need to focus on education and the next generations.

Agree, but he CAN still make some very important policy changes as well as ridding the cabinet posts of the stench of Trump.

DHS alone should take a hard u-turn.

Trump said that he has “claimed, for Electoral Vote purposes”, Pennsylvania, Georgia, North Carolina, and Michigan. In case you need clarification, a candidate is not allowed to “claim” a state arbitrarily. A state is awarded to him or her based which candidate gets more votes. See also: how democracy works.
