Definitely sounds a little shady even as far as internet stories go... But I'm not TAHT sure our insane boarder and ICE police wouldn't do such a thing.
If you keep reading down the (very long) thread of comments you'll see enough stories like that one to give it even more credence. It sounds plausible to me.

I accept the correction and take your word for it. So now the question is if this is official policy or just stupid, overzealous agents.

Gangs don't have official policies. Doing so makes them accountable.
Of course... but to make this wide spread across such a big organization, their almost certainly had to be some sort of communication about it.... something that is VERY likely to leak if it exists.

Under Biden, yes.

Under Trump? Well, let's just say he was friends with a lot of Mafia types in his early life. The parts which would raise the interest of a prosecuting attorney, and could be matched to existing statutes, are never said, only implied. And it is only the implied parts which have a governing interest on someone's career growth. Why do you think they use Signal?

I remember, years ago, reading an article by a disillusioned former Immigration Officer at Heathrow. He said that the IOs there were all graduates and mostly bored stiff doing an job that was generally about as intellectually taxing as operating a supermarket checkout. Consequently, they were all looking for reasons to stop people and refuse them entry, particularly if they had passports from countries whose citizens didn't normally get refused, simply to relieve the monotony.

That might be part of the story.

The US comes ever closer to a constitutional crisis over the kidnapping and deportation of Abrego Garcia.

Some would claim we've been in a constitutional crisis since January 20.
David Allen Green uses the term "constitutional crisis" in a very specific way, to describe a conflict that can't be resolved within existing constitutional arrangements because the constitution doesn't envisage it. So while January 20 certainly raised the possibility of any number of constitutional crises arising before January 2029, there hasn't yet been time for a full-blown one to develop (e.g. the Supreme Court orders the Executive branch to do something and the Executive branch refuses to back down and, instead, flatly refuses to comply and says "No, we're not going to and you can't make us").

It must be nice when you can choose which questions to answer, and which to turn your back on.

On Monday afternoon the Vermont senators Bernie Sanders and Peter Welch, along with Vermont representative Becca Balint, issued a statement on the arrest.

“Earlier today, Mohsen Mahdawi of White River Junction, Vermont, walked into an immigration office for what was supposed to be the final step in his citizenship process,” they said. “Instead, he was arrested and removed in handcuffs by plain-clothed, armed, individuals with their faces covered.
“These individuals refused to provide any information as to where he was being taken or what would happen to him. This is immoral, inhumane, and illegal. Mr Mahdawi, a legal resident of the United States, must be afforded due process under the law and immediately released from detention.”

In a video being shared online of the arrest, Mahdawi is seen in handcuffs being walked out of a building and put into a car by officers.

Moments before entering the Oval Office on Monday, Trump told Bukele that “home growns” should be next.
“The home growns. You gotta build about five more places,” he said. “It’s not big enough.”
“I just asked the president — it’s this massive complex that he built, jail complex — I said, 'Can you build some more of them please?’ As many as we can get out of our country,” Trump told reporters.
