Insurgencies always go through two voluntary phases. Growth where membership requirements are more casual, and shrinkage, where requirements to be a "true member" are tightened and people are expelled/liquidated. I am pleased to see them tightening the base; with the irrationality displayed so far they may some day extinguish themselves, or at least become small enough to be easily monitored and rounded up when they go too far.

It's a propaganda war that we basically have no hope of winning thanks to the Western concept of freedom of speech. Russia can just ban any information they see as inconvenient, but we can't really do anything major to stop Americans form sharing misinformation fed to them by foreign sources. Ironically, many of them see themselves as great patriots... This was much less of a problem during WWII and during the cold war when courts ruled in favor of some censorship.
