Man who abused boys at migrant facility had HIV

(CNN)A former youth care worker has been sentenced to 19 years in prison for sexually abusing teenage boys at a migrant shelter in Arizona, the Justice Department said.

Levian Pacheco, 25, of Phoenix was convicted last year on seven counts of abusive sexual contact with a ward and three counts of sexual abuse of a ward.

The abuse occurred between August 2016 and July 2017 at Southwest Key's Casa Kokopelli facility in Mesa, court records show. It was part of the US government's network of privately run facilities intended to care for unaccompanied minors, according to court documents.

Pacheco began working there in May 2016.

The seven boys he was convicted of abusing, some on multiple occasions, were between 15 and 17, according to court documents. They were being held in detention pending possible deportation, and Pacheco, a youth care worker, supervised the minors, the Justice Department said.

Pacheco's prison sentence is set to be followed by a lifetime of supervised release, the department said Friday.

U.S. District Judge Steven P. Logan increased Pacheco's sentence because he exposed the victims to the HIV virus, officials said.

CNN has reached out to Pacheco's attorneys for comment.

Probably meaningless to anyone other than Brits, but it made me chuckle.

For non-Brits, Jeremy Corbyn is the somewhat controversial leader of the Labour Party, with a fanatically loyal following among a particular subgroup of Labour supporters ("Corbynistas," as they hate to be called). HIs passionate support for the Palestinians, like that of his supporters, has often been criticised for lapsing into antisemitism, a charge they heatedly deny as a Conservative/Zionist smear. He was born in 1949.

So now Northam is saying that neither of them are him, and he has no idea why they're on his yearbook page.

Also he did dress in blackface on another occasion but he was dressed as Michael Jackson so it was ironic or some shit.

Victorian 'poverty' diseases are fashionable once again in the UK, the worlds 5th richest country where 1/5th of the population live in poverty.

The Victorian diseases putting people in Merseyside in hospital

"Victorian" diseases are:
Gout, Tuberculosis, Malnutrition, Whooping cough, Measles, Scurvy, Typhoid, Scarlet fever, Diphtheria, Mumps, Rickets & Cholera

It's worth noting that there have been cases of both Typhoid and Cholera, but that the actual number of those cases is not made public.

Man died after being tied up by family at London home in belief he was 'possessed', court hears

A mentally ill man died after his family tied him up for days in the belief he was “possessed”, a court has heard.

Kennedy Ife’s parents and five brothers are accused of manslaughter, false imprisonment and causing his death through a botched exorcism at their home in north London.

Opening their trial at the Old Bailey, prosecutors said the family restrained the 26-year-old marketing consultant with cable ties, rope and handcuffs for several days leading up to his death on 22 August 2016.

Prosecutor Tom Little QC told the court Mr Ife died because “his own family decided that because he had become and remained unwell, he should be restrained”.

“The 999 call that was eventually made for expert assistance was too late,” he said. “The family put misguided religious beliefs about this young man being possessed by a demon or evil spirits before the obvious and common sense conclusion that he needed help and did not need to be restrained.”

[....]

Paramedics attempted to lower Mr Ife’s body temperature and resuscitate him, but he was pronounced dead.

Ambulance staff called police, who saw the family carry out an “attempted resurrection” over Mr Ife’s body.

The court heard that his brother Colin was heard saying: “Kennedy I commend you to rise in the name of Jesus.”

So, like, it's possible that a successful one might have helped him? What's a non-botched exorcism even mean?
One that doesn't result in the death of, or injury to, the patient?

While praying for the patient to be relieved of demonic possession isn't going to do much good, it should be possible to accomplish it without tying him down and without it leading to his death.

Wisconsin couple and teenage son charged in killing of young boy

On April 20, sheriff's investigators say over the course of an hour or an hour-and-a-half, Ethan was hit, kicked, poked, repeatedly shoved to the ground, and a heavy log was rolled across his chest by Damian Hauschultz, who was 14 at the time. The older boy "stood on (Ethan's) body and head while Ethan was face-down in a puddle. He ultimately buried Ethan completely in snow."

Timothy and Tina, Ethan's court-appointed guardians, took the boy to a hospital where he died after life-saving efforts by medical staff.

According to the sheriff's office, the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office determined Ethan died from hypothermia and blunt force injuries to his head, chest and abdomen.

The sheriff's office says Timothy Hauschultz ordered Ethan to carry the wooden log, which weighed about two-thirds of his own body weight, as a punishment. The teenage boy was supervising Ethan.

According to criminal complaints obtained by Action 2 News, Ethan and his siblings were put in the Hauschultzes' care in 2017. The siblings told investigators Timothy Hauschultz frequently punishes them by making them walk laps around the yard carrying heavy logs, which he picks out. The children are allowed to put down the log and take a 5-second rest after each lap. The siblings said that week they were required to carry wood every day for two hours a day for not knowing their Bible verses.

The 15-year-old boy told investigators he was frustrated because the younger boys were dropping the wood every 5 minutes. When Ethan became unresponsive, he thought the boy was just resisting, so he buried him under what he estimated was 80 pounds of packed snow and ice. Deputies say Ethan weighed 60 pounds.

Investigators asked Damian how much snow was covering Ethan. Damian replied by saying Ethan "was in his own little coffin of snow." He then laughed, according to a criminal complaint.

Damian Hauschultz is charged with first-degree reckless homicide, physical abuse of a child intentionally causing bodily harm, and substantial battery.

Timothy Hauschultz is charged with party to the crimes of felony murder, intent to contribute to the delinquency of a child resulting in death, physical abuse of a child intentionally causing bodily harm, and misdemeanor battery.

McKeever-Hauschultz is charged with being party to the crimes of contributing to the delinquency of a child resulting in death and failing to act to prevent bodily harm to a child.
Sounds to me like being forced to memorize bible verses doesn't seem to have worked out too well for that older kid.

One would think; but to me the word "exorcism" usually tends to imply something a little more proactive than simple praying. Although I could be wrong about that, not my religion etc.

No idea. The RC and Anglican rites of exorcism seem to comprise lengthy prayers and exhortations, and that's about it.

Rite of Exorcism - Prayers - Catholic Online

Orthodox Anglicanism: Rituale Romanum 1962 Exorcism Rite

Clearly whatever these (presumably pentecostal/charismatic) folks did went well beyond that, though.

RC and Anglican exorcisms are, it should be noted, performed only when authorised by the local bishop, by an exorcist approved by the church.
