I would like to be able to get an account with my real last name, which was retired before I joined SL. That's like extra legacy.

I hope they don't open up legacy names. This may sound a little weird. I like it that as far as I know I am the first Roxie in SL and only one of a hand full of Martens that still play. I had toyed with the idea of having a Marten family reunion event

I totally get it. I'm pretty sure I'm the only Zebendein that has logged in since 2011 or earlier.

Well, since I had already updated my alt with the horrible unspellable name (from a Niven novel, what was I thinking) to premium, only to discover all the flashy names were taken, he's now Coyote Littlepaws.

At 40 dollars per? Unlikely.

It's not so unreasonable if you do the math. If $40 USD is roughly equal to about L$10k that's how much you'd probably spend kitting out a new alt with a mesh body, mesh head, clothes, skin, hair, AO etc.

i saw 3 people last night 1 i didn't immediately recognize and had to ask. Heartsong, Ravenhurst, and bellsserian.

With all the punny names already taken within the first 24 hours, LL is already rolling in some extra dough right now. once people start getting thier stimulus checks i expect a few more people to take it. some people are waiting to see more options..

This has been a heavily requested feature for a very long time so i'm not surprised many people are bitting the bullet... it's one time thing.. the market will eventually settle.

I have heard from 2 different sources that MP transactions are tied to SL name, and that if you change it at this point you'll lose the ability to get items you purchased redelivered. Is this true?

I don't know about MP but it's likely that some third party redelivery terminals might be messed up. LL has released a new web API to help with that.

I was really kind of freaked out that people were ever using names rather than UUIDs.

Over on the other forum, Oz Linden has implied that names will update automatically on the MP.

I'm not overly attached to my name, though I certainly want to change my first name to what "Matty" is short for; (Maitimo , not Matthew). I entered 3 names into the contest and if one of those turns up in a future list I'm gonna do it. The price will hurt, but I'll still do it anyway.

I see a lot of fun and kinda novelty names, but I think there would be a market for more sensible decent sounding names too.

There is no way in hell I'd pay for premium + $40 for a name change though. I still think it's crappy that new users get landed with a Resident surname and have to pay when some of us were just old enough to get surnames for free. I'd have preferred to see a list of decent "basic" names offered to new signups and existing Residents for free/cheap, then have the fancy and funny names as a purchased extra. They'd still have sold plenty that way, but it would have been a more decent way to treat users who have been stuck with a crappy Resident surname all this time. But I'm sure we'll see plenty more of this crap if LL manage to sell it

which I really doubt... they will sell a few in first boom now but after that it will just be another rarely used feature.
