Not sure where to put this one. Article is by Molly Ringwald.

It’s a strange experience, watching a younger, more innocent version of yourself onscreen. It’s stranger still—surreal, even—watching it with your child when she is much closer in age to that version of yourself than you are.

Christian Ziegler on Monday was voted out as chair of the Florida Republican Party, weeks after being pushed to resign from his position as police continue to investigate a rape accusation against him that he denies.

The vote to remove Zeigler occurred during a closed-door meeting on Monday afternoon in Tallahassee. The state party's vice chair, Evan Power, was elected as the new chair.
Ziegler was accused late last year of raping a woman with whom he and his wife, Moms for Liberty co-founder and Sarasota County School Board member Bridget Ziegler, had a consensual sexual relationship.

Bridget Ziegler has not publicly commented on the allegations against her husband and has not been accused of a crime.

Sarasota police have been investigating the sexual abuse claim but Christian Ziegler has not been charged with a crime.
Not yet.

Comedy.

A not-so-star-studded fundraising gala for Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is on life support, with the political scion abruptly bailing on his own party after a handful of allegedly invited A-listers publicly disavowed any knowledge of the event—and loudly promised that they would never, ever be caught dead backing him.

Kennedy’s press team told The Daily Beast in a statement on Monday that he would no longer be attending the Jan. 22 event, organized by a super PAC supporting his presidential bid.

The PAC, American Values 2024, announced the event on X last week, confirming a Daily Mail report that celebrities like Dionne Warwick, Martin Sheen, Mike Tyson, and Andrea Bocelli would all be there to wish Kennedy many happy returns.
Warwick almost immediately balked at the idea, posting to her account on X, formerly Twitter, “I don’t know anything about this event. I did not agree to it and I certainly won’t be there.”

“If you are going to lie on my name, at least lie about something cool: ‘Revealed: Dionne collaborates with Rihanna on new album.’” she added.
A birthday party where no one, not even the birthday boy, will be there. Should be a real cool event.

A church comes down on trademark infringement. Godsmacked.

A Utah brewery is stopping production on one of its beers — the Deseret IPA — after a demand from an attorney representing several businesses owned by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which asserted the name was a potential trademark infringement.

Cody McKendrick, co-owner of Bewilder Brewing Co. at 445 S. 400 West, Salt Lake City, said this week that the brewery was given a few months to cease production of its Deseret IPA and sell its remaining store of the beer. It also must not pursue registering the name with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
“In the world of being threatened by legal action, just being asked to sell your product and not make it again isn’t probably the worst,” McKendrick said. “They didn’t try and come at us and recover any money or say we damaged their brand or anything.”

But, he added, the whole thing was “frustrating.”

The prosecutor said that although Gustavson had “consented and encouraged” the defendants to participate, text messages between them demonstrated that they were “willing participants”.

She said the harm caused by the removal of Gustavson’s penis and leg was “so serious and so severe and life-threatening” that hospital treatment was required to “put things right”.

That is so freaking bizarre. I've heard of like serial killers and other weirdos who are into mutilating other people and removing body parts of their victims and all that, but usually they don't then turn around and tell someone else "okay now you do me". And this was a whole group of people who were into that.

Guys I'm starting to think the internet was a mistake.

Not The Onion, but sorta...

Here I thought The Onion was maybe one person putting out an article a day. No. A look at their about page lists a host of staffers. Who knew? Especially with The Onion one has to question these things.

Weird how they went with leg amputation only for the title. The guy is chopping off his an other people’s dicks! You’d think that they would get more clicks with penis in the title.

Anyway, that’s my contribution to the discussion after reading the whole article in bed upon waking. What lovely images plastered all over my brain. 🤢
