Nuzzi is 32 and already has a memoir. I expect 7 from her, at least. Oh, and I've learned she now works for Vanity Fair. Another subscription I get to cancel...Olivia Nuzzi's new memoir, "American Canto," reveals new details of her secret romance with Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the Secretary of Health and Human Services, though she doesn’t explicitly name him.
The relationship, which began during Kennedy's 2024 presidential campaign, resulted in Nuzzi losing her job at New York magazine and the breakdown of her engagement.
Nuzzi alleges that Kennedy, despite claiming sobriety, told her he used psychedelic drugs like DMT and expressed a wish for her to have his child.
They offer a troubling opportunity to manipulate public perceptions of the outcome of political events
if such faith in the wisdom of financially motivated, largely young and male crowds doesn’t make you raise an eyebrow, perhaps hearing about the newest major player in the market will. Last month, Truth Social, the social media platform majority-owned by Donald Trump and his family, announced the launch of Truth Predict, a new prediction market platform, in affiliation with crypto exchange Crypto.com. Donald Trump Jr, meanwhile, is not only on the board of Truth Social’s parent company, he is also an investor in Polymarket, a member of its advisory board — and a “strategic adviser” to Kalshi.
But such conflicts of interest are not the only thing to consider. What about the possible use of prediction markets to influence the outcomes of elections? To encourage or discourage certain politicians from entering the race or delegitimise election results that have gone in a way not predicted? And who is to stop foreign actors from getting involved?
Either way, the opportunity these platforms afford to manipulate the perception of the outcome of political events is troubling, particularly at a time in which trust in institutions — including polling companies — is low and it can no longer be assumed that the legitimate election results will be accepted. How much worse might the backlash from Trump’s supporters have been after the 2020 presidential election if billboards reading “94% TRUMP 6% BIDEN” had been erected all over the US?
A pardoned January 6 rioter has been charged with sex crimes against two children. Andrew Paul Johnson was arraigned in a Florida court in October on multiple charges, including molesting a child as young as 11 years old, joining a growing list of U.S. Capitol rioters pardoned by President Donald Trump who now face new legal trouble.
Johnson dangled the prospect that one of the children could receive money because, Johnson claimed, he was entitled to $10 million as part of reparations for his January 6 arrest, according to a police report from a Hernando County Sheriff’s Department detective.
Those convicted and later pardoned for involvement in the January 6 riot have not been rewarded any reparations, though Trump and January 6 rioters have floated the idea of a compensation fund.
Johnson said he would put the victim in his will to receive any of the money left after his death. Police believed this was done to keep the child from “exposing what Andrew had done,” according to the arrest report, which was filed in court.
I think one of the main differences between US medicine and the NHS is that, whatever its faults, I never feel worried that healthcare professionals are trying to trying to sell me procedures to make money for themselves or to hit targets. They always outline the various options open to me, and sometimes make it clear what their recommendation is, and why, but while I normally follow professional advice -- the point about professional advice, after all, is that professionals generally know a lot more about their specialty than do the general public -- I've never felt pressured, and when I've turned down surgical procedures, I've always been supported in my decision and subsequent treatment.A year-long investigation reveals how mothers lost children after being radicalised by uplifting podcast tales of births without midwives or doctors

If any of those numbers are real, I will eat this computer.Trump appeared healthy upon completion of the physical examination, with a resting heart rate of 62 beats per minute and a blood pressure of 124/78 mmHg.
I've gone from 5'9 in my 30's to 5'6 at near retirement age.Yes. How much can aging shrink you?
Blood pressure medication can give you completely normal numbers, it's pretty effective. But I'm right there with you on that heart rate though, lol.If any of those numbers are real, I will eat this computer.
