I've gotten tired of telling MAGA idiots that Trump lost the election. The gag is just stale now. Instead, I started telling them that yeah, the election was stolen, and that's a good thing, because Trump is a filthy terrorist!

The youtube algorithm gave me this. The title says it's about accents and dialects, but really it's much more. Check the comments, like how the people stand with their backs against a wall and scan the vicinity for threats. That was the commenters' interpretation who seemed to know the situation first hand. I thought perhaps some people he interviews were just high. However, I've never been there and don't know.

Seattle's minimum wage is now $16.69/hr, and has been above $15 for some time. Their economy hasn't imploded. Adjusting for inflation it was about $10.85 in 1968, and things were pretty good back then, on a relative basis.

If you have a roommate or a two-income household, the combined income is livable at $15/hr x 2.

As someone who had been sent home a couple of times because my skirt was a little too short, this completely blows my mind. I have never heard of anyone being sent home because her skirt was too long! I mean, if it's dragging on the floor, I can see safety concerns, but this? I really would like to know what this school is angling for here.

No, I checked on the school website, and I don't think it's that.

Parents have to buy items of school uniform from one particular online supplier, who appear to supply the uniforms for schools up and down the country. I checked on the listings for the school in question, Highdown School & Sixth Form Centre, and their skirts are available only three lengths, 18" --22", depending on the size and style.

They are also two or three times as expensive as similar items from a large supermarket chain, so I suspect the school must have some deal going with the suppliers -- you make parents buy from our store and we'll contribute a percentage to school funds, or something like that.

But anyway, I don't think it's consciously directed against Muslims. Someone probably thought that the uniform allows girls to wear trousers, anyway, so that covers most of their Muslim pupils in an area like Hillingdon, where most of the Muslim communities are part of the various Indian and Pakistani diasporas, in which women and girls will typically wear trousers rather than skirts for preference.

So it's only recently they've started enforcing it -- possibly because they're worried about other parents complaining that their daughters' skirts cost three or four times as much as does Siham's.

This student needs to be stopped! She is clearly trying to destroy the American economy by starting a long skirt trend! The hemline index says that the stock market rises and falls with hemlines. That's why it's so important to tightly regulate skirt lengths. If we let hem lines get too high too fast, it leads to an overheated economy and inflation. If they crash to the ankles too fast, that leds to recession, and deflation! LOL

Out of morbid curiosity, I just pulled up Joe Rogan on spotify. I am not a Rogan fan, but when something big happens, I kind of expect to hear about guy saying something dumb about it. The silence made me curious.

I just skipped around the most recent episodes, but it looks like he hasn't said anything about the capitol terrorists at all. Maybe he records weeks ahead of time? Maybe he's scared of addressing the elephant in the room, because a lot of Q types are Rogan fans? IDK

The really crazy part, though, is there are 5-6 ads ads at the beginning of every episode, and each ad is at least a minute long. I had to skip to the end with the slider to avoid wasting time on ads. I have spotify premium, which advertises itself to be an ad-free experience. I wonder if this will lead to a class action lawsuit.

How do they get away with that ?

I don't know that's what's happening, but I suspect that's the case, since I can't think of any other reason for making parents buy generic items like plain black skirts and trousers from a special supplier at so high a price.

Blazers and sports kit and so on with the school colours or crest or logo, then yes, I can see why they need to come from an approved supplier, but the only reason for insisting that they pay over the odds for ordinary black skirts and trousers that I can think of is that the school must derive some benefit from the arrangement.
