I still don't quite get why they got Colin Farrell for that role only to throw so much make up on top of him.
DeVito didn't undergo a similar transformation? I'm not sure he could pull off the Penguin, while looking like Colin Ferrell.

He's got the walk down for the character, I'll say that.
True, but what gets me is that Colin Farrell has a repertoire of movements that pop up in most of his work, certain ways he tilts his head or looks at someone that's very 'him'. I'm sorta wondering if there's some sort of AI face work augmenting the facial prosthesis, because even his eyes don't look like his own.
I still don't quite get why they got Colin Farrell for that role only to throw so much make up on top of him.
He's listed as a producer, so it may be more 'he made it happen' than 'they got him'. =)

Either way, only one episode in and I'm hooked. =)

Common misconception, he underwent a transition for his other rolls and the Penguin is his natural look.
Rhea Perlman would like to have a word with you.

That's the first trailer I've seen for a few years now that's made me want to watch a movie.

Watched the pilot of the new Matlock series with Kathy Bates on Paramount.

It’s a simple cable type show, but sometimes, when you sit down with a snack, and don’t feel like searching endlessly for what to watch, it’s exactly what you need. I liked it, and Kathy Bates.

There’s a twist at the end of the 1st episode.

John Amos, the star of “Good Times,” “Roots” and more, died on Aug. 21 in Los Angeles of natural causes, his representative confirmed to Variety on Tuesday. He was 84.

“It is with heartfelt sadness that I share with you that my father has transitioned,” said his son Kelly Christopher Amos in a statement. “He was a man with the kindest heart and a heart of gold… and he was loved the world over. Many fans consider him their TV father. He lived a good life. His legacy will live on in his outstanding works in television and film as an actor. My father loved working as an actor throughout his entire life…. most recently in ‘Suits LA’ playing himself and our documentary about his life journey as an actor, ‘America’s Dad.’ He was my dad, my best friend, and my hero. Thank you for your prayers and support at this time.”

Say what?

Just last week, io9 ran a post titled “The Voltron Movie Is Actually Happening and Casting Has Begun.” Little did we know that casting for the Amazon MGM film would involve former Superman, former Witcher, and forever Warhammer fan Henry Cavill in any sort of bold-faced context. But today, that’s the news: Cavill is gonna star in Voltron.

Mermaids - 1990
Starring Cher, Winona Rider and others

There are so many movies I have seen about growing up, raising children, the difficulties thrown. Most of them are just awful. I can't watch. This movie is a beautiful exception, so authentic. The movie is about Cher the mother, her two daughters along with their relationships outside of the family. Of course, Cher being Cher, she is not a boring suburban housewife. She lives according to her feelings which don't always lead in perfect directions. There is a scene near the end that is a bit overly melodramtic but that seems to be the way for movies in this genre. That is all I can say without spoiling things except the movie has a great soundtrack too. As the final credits roll they play a version of this song:

Anyone watch The Diplomat series on Netflix? I’m halfway through and am liking it. There’s a season 2 coming.

(Interestingly, in the series which came out in April, the US president’s entourage think she would make a good VP to eventually replace the “elderly” president without having to campaign)

Also, Lenny from Laverne and Shirley is the president. I know, he’s done other things, but that’s always how I think of him.

Finally watched the last episode of season 2. OMG so good.

Really, if you aren’t watching it yet, do so.

Season 3 has officially been renewed.
