Domino's pizza, which entered the Italian market in 2015 and wanted to grab a 2% share until 2025 with 880 locations, is pulling out right now and closed all remaining 29 stores.

As reason what happened there are two explanations, as follows:

a) Dominos unique selling point was pizza delivery. This was a point where local restaurants didn't offer much service, but this changed due to COVID drastically.
b) Italians simply do prefer more artisan pies instead of the standardised food of a food chain.

Italy has so many great local pizzerias. Good luck beating them with a fast food pizza concept.
It is as stupid as trying to export your elsewhere produced Gouda cheese to the Netherlands.
