There's this place called Mom's organic market near where I had an appointment today. I saw this stuff and tried it. It was pretty tasty, a bit out of the ordinary. Out of boredom I checked out the online reviews. Seems people either love em or hate em.

Count me as one of those who love 'em.

Most of the time I make my own but lately, since my husband is on TPN and can't eat, I've been using canned stuff more and these taste great. Their Mexican red rice is great too, almost as good as my homemade with no weird after taste like most cooked and packaged rice that you get. I got mine on Amazon.

I suspect it’s the vegan haters who dislike it.

I've found the best American home cook ever to make lasagna - Paris Hilton! Yup, basically a high level desaster what she's cooking while looking good. But there are far worse home cooks out there.

That is the totally standard way of making lasagna really. Glad to see she used Rao's for the tomato sauce.

Elvira is the worst cook ever
In the movie, Elvira Mistress of the Dark

Elvira inherits a house, a dog, and a recipe book from a distant relative. The dog has hidden the recipe book. She wants to get closer to a cute guy and finds where the dog hid the book. She tries to make a recipe from the book. Little did she know this was a magic recipe book, not for food recipes.

The movie is pretty funny but certainly falls into the so bad it's good category.

It's what they used to call B movies.

I have GOT to watch this movie now. I love Elvira and I didn't even know this was out in the stratosphere.

I was once the occasional victim of people eating other people's food out of the fridge. I started marking my lunch bag with "The food in this bag has not been poisoned in any way. You're welcome."

I never had another lunch stolen again.

An original American ketchup recipe from the 1770s, which the first settlers really used - so it's yummy healthy mushroom ketchup! No sugar in it, also no tomatoes - the mushrooms were swapped with tomatoes somewhere in the 19th century.

This is exactly the kind of thing I really enjoy trying. It looks like a great way to add umami taste to your foods.

Yeah, it reminded me a little bit of soy sauce and garum. I mean I don't want to make garum by myself because meh and smell, but the ancient Romans just loved it.

They are using different baked goods indiscriminately. Toast and sandwiches use bread. Tacos use tortillas. Quiche uses crust. Calzone uses pizza dough, which is pretty much leavened bread.* Cake uses cake. And WTF with sushi, which is wrapped in a vegetable.

In their classification, a quesadilla is a sandwich even though it is on unleavened bread, a hot dog is a taco despite using raised dough for the bun, and pie and torts are quiche. Dolmas are now a calzone. Cigars may also count.

Also, who frosts the underside of a cake?

Any system that does not account for both morphology and composition has serious flaws.

*eta: since the bread is cooked with the filling inside, calzone is a bao. But pierogis use pasta so they are not.
