Forked. What do you call it if the bun splits in half like they almost always do?
Forked. What do you call it if the bun splits in half like they almost always do?
With the exception of the sushi, they all use flour. They are using different baked goods indiscriminately. Toast and sandwiches use bread. Tacos use tortillas. Quiche uses crust. Calzone uses pizza dough, which is pretty much leavened bread.* Cake uses cake. And WTF with sushi, which is wrapped in a vegetable.
In their classification, a quesadilla is a sandwich even though it is on unleavened bread, a hot dog is a taco despite using raised dough for the bun, and pie and torts are quiche. Dolmas are now a calzone. Cigars may also count.
Also, who frosts the underside of a cake?
Any system that does not account for both morphology and composition has serious flaws.
*eta: since the bread is cooked with the filling inside, calzone is a bao. But pierogis use pasta so they are not.
That is a good point, but there is still a big difference between raised bread, flat bread, cake, and pasta. They are not generally interchangeable (although in a pinch a pbj on tortilla is acceptable but a grilled cheese on tortilla becomes quesadilla). With the exception of the sushi, they all use flour.
ETA: I don't eat sushi, so I don't know how it's made. For all I know flour is used at some point. All I know is I will not eat raw seafood.
I say it becomes a sandwich. What do you call it if the bun splits in half like they almost always do?
Just horizontal.I say it becomes a sandwich.
You know what it takes to make fry bread. That is a good point, but there is still a big difference between raised bread, flat bread, cake, and pasta. They are not generally interchangeable (although in a pinch a pbj on tortilla is acceptable but a grilled cheese on tortilla becomes quesadilla).
Sushi is actually a way of preparing rice. It is sticky with a splash of mild rice wine vinegar. Rolled sushi uses dried seaweed as the wrapper.
Not all sushi has raw fish, which is called sashimi.
I should make this bin and put it in my front yard at my Florida fishing camp in SL.![]()
This place inside my mind is! Also, my stomach.
By the time they’re cool enough to eat, you’ve already had your fill of everything else in the fridge. If you're ever at home in the dead of winter and your heating conks out, just microwave a bunch of frozen burritos and place them nearby. Those fuckers stay hot forever!
