*who might not be of US nationality though...

What do you expect from people who have pictures like this in their Twitter profile?
And they hate on Obama, Hillary, and even Chelsea Clinton all the time. "They're cool evil, how can anyone still support them?" it's one thing I saw before blocking one.
FFS. None of them currently hold office, bit have plans to doing so.
And "Benghazi won't go away" like they're doing something great.
Not just the stupidity, but the paranoia. And the hate they love to accuse the left of.🤦🏻‍♀️
I think it is hilarious how they ask what they think are gotcha questions that puzzle everyone not in their cult. Like asking if Obama or Clinton would have been left in a similar scene when editing something for TV.

By the way, my mom keeps an eye on financial news; the sales this year, even online, were not anywhere near what was expected/predicted.
The economy must be much worse than official statistics are letting on. I guessed this from the increasing homelessness rate, claiming the working poor among its victims, the half of the population that does not have enough cash or credit, in many places, to qualify for a lease. The top of the economy is overheating while the poor sink. It has the look of a bubble.
Again.

Fake news! Fake news! :)

I am guessing she knows but economies do not turn around overnight either. At first he was running on Obama's economy and it is only now that his decisions are affecting things. Although when people vote they are not thinking that. So the Ds have an uphill battle in 2020 (or 2024 if they manage to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory again).

Maybe someone should suggest to them it is all about one of the other extras that got cut? :) After all, why not? Any sane person knows they are just doing yet another conspiracy theory but if you hold to their version of reality it could have been about ANY extra that was cut, right?

Even when told, they continue to press it. Just go look at the comments... These people are literally the stupidest human beings on the planet.

Wow, what a bunch of whiny conservative snowflakes!

Until the actual election, there is nothing new to learn, nothing lower they could do.
Oh, they can and will go lower and lower. I knew that if he won the election, he and his followers would be bad and do bad things, but holy hell, I had no idea just how low they would go and the efforts to which they would sink in the justification for it. I think some people are baffled, I know that I am sometimes, at how truly terrible this all is, and how the wheels still keep turning.

Someone should start the rumor that 'Qanon' was in it giving some kind of a prescient message, and the 'Deep State' cut them. 🤣
I bet they'd buy it.

Some of the MAGAts are trying to spin his petty reaction to the CBC flap by saying "oh, he's trolling your again and you fell for it, sksksks".
That's not trolling. This is trolling:

On Christmas Eve, apparently before he was aware of the edited broadcast, Trump told US service members it was a “very big hit” and that it was an honour to be in the film.

“A lot of people mention it every year, especially around Christmas,” he said. “They say, ‘I just saw you,’ especially young kids. They say, ‘I just saw you on the movie.’”

Strangely, they don't seem to have tears in their eyes when they tell him this, neither do they thank him profusely, and they don't call him Mr President while they're doing it, which suggests something is wrong.

There are strange patterns in the economy right now, which have experts scratching their head. It's a topic that Marketplace (an NPR program on finance) has touched on repeatedly this past year. For instance, unemployment is lower than economists thought it could go without triggering inflation. Honestly, this is not stuff I understand, but I get the gist, which is that the usual predictions and indicators of the health of the economy simply aren't working as expected any more. Everyone is in new territory now.

On a purely anecdotal level, my company -- which makes its money consulting for big business -- is doing very well. So well that extremely generous raises were handed out at the end of the year (as much as one can tell, given that no one talks about compensation to fellow co-workers). So yes, the top of the economy appears to be thriving.

Iran is having naval exercise together with the navies of Russia and China right now.

"Iran’s armed forces will hold a joint, four-day naval exercise with Russia and China in the northern part of the Indian Ocean, a spokesman said Wednesday.
The drill, which is to start on Saturday, will be the first such trilateral exercise as Tehran seeks to boost military cooperation with Beijing and Moscow amid unprecedented economic sanctions from Washington. Visits to Iran by Russian and Chinese naval representatives have also stepped up in recent years.
Iranian military spokesman Gen. Abolfazl Shekarchi said the joint maneuvers, which are aimed at promoting regional security, will extend as far as the Sea of Oman. The drill is seen as a response to recent U.S. maneuvers with its regional ally Saudi Arabia, in which China also participated."

Yes, definitely. My guess is that the old assumptions are working for about 10% - 25%, more or less, or the fraction of workers who still have real jobs, and can own a home or otherwise build wealth.

About half of the population no longer make a “living wage.” They are not unemployed, but they are often unable to acquire one or more basics such as housing, healthcare or transportation. The old assumptions included the idea that if you worked full-time, you’d be okay. In the service and temp/gig economy, that’s no longer true.

If the voters understood this, we’d see more pressure for single payer healthcare and subsidized housing, among other things, in an effort to use redistribution to make up for goods people can’t afford in the market.

The inability of wages to keep up with the actual cost of living must be deflationary. I would guess that automation is making up the productivity difference as low wages would tend to make workers less productive after a point.

The system is still generating make work, but all that can be automated. Eventually, it will shed people at a noticeable rate. They won’t be counted as unemployed once they go too long without being able to find work. Since we don’t have a proper safety net, they’ll show up as homeless once their numbers swell past what informal community and family help can support.

The working poor are being encouraged to blame the disabled and homeless who are getting any help, and immigrants working under the table, instead of a system they can’t understand or afford. They are encouraged to blame themselves when they can’t survive on service job wages. I believe this is a driver of suicide in rural middle aged men. They can’t survive and can’t understand why.

I know it sounds arrogant to say a large fraction of the population is unable to understand what is happening to them, and unable to cope at what educated people generally consider an adult level. But if they truly can’t understand, someone has to intervene for them before they start lashing out. That’s not going to happen, because the enemies of this country control it.

Three or four years ago, I predicted the hard Right was engineering a coup. They believe they can submerge the population in poverty and still either maintain order or shelter themselves. This is impossible, disorder and economic rot don’t care who you are. All this madness is driven by a misunderstanding of the problem, the belief we’re still in the economic past, and a misunderstanding of what that past was.

But I am convinced we can’t explain it to people, either. Most of the people cognitively able to understand already do, and as arrogant as it may sound, I believe the rest really cannot. So TV fills the gap. And they still vote.

It's an emotional resistance rather than an intellectual fail, but yes, it's almost impenetrable. For those of us who have been marginalized all our lives, cynicism and distrust of the establishment is not a difficult step to take. But the hard core are Americans who are deeply emotionally invested in a system that has worked for them for generations, that they believe they earned, that they consider their birthright, even a God-given benefit of the Chosen Ones (aka White Christians). In order to accept that the system is now working against them requires relinquishing an entire universe of assumptions about how their class achieved its successes. They would trade their status of People Who Deserve Success for that of People Who Are Pawns of the System.

The Palmer Report said:
Donald Trump has a number of problems right now. He’s been impeached in the House. His scheme to rig his Senate impeachment trial is potentially unraveling. Pro-impeachment poll numbers are still rising, while Trump’s 2020 poll numbers are as non-competitive as ever. And the evangelical community is beginning to incrementally rebel against him.

So what is Donald Trump’s solution for fixing all of this? Apparently it involves Jon Voight. The actor, whose political and social views grow more deranged every time he opens his mouth, posted a particularly creepy video aimed at defending Trump from impeachment, while claiming Trump is… God? We’re not even sure what Voight is trying to say, but we do know that Trump dutifully retweeted the video on Thursday night. Watch it below if you dare:

I know, the Palmer Report is left-leaning and often too optimistic about Rump's downfall, but the description of Voight's video is apt.
