White House Responds To Conservative Furor Over Biden-Obama Fundraiser Video

The fundraiser with big money LA donors on Saturday brought in over $30 million, according to the campaign, and featured stars such as George Clooney and Barbara Streisand. The event was hosted by late night host Jimmy Kimmel, who spent about 40 minutes speaking with Biden and Obama on stage, at the end of which, as the presidents were leaving the stage, cameras showed Obama take Biden’s arm before they walked off stage together.

The New York Post wrote about the clip under the headline “Biden appears to freeze up, has to be led off stage by Obama at mega-bucks LA fundraiser.” And on X (formerly Twitter) the clip went viral, with plenty of big names weighing in, to include talk host Piers Morgan, who called it “embarrassing.”

In a statement to Mediaite, Senior Deputy Press Secretary Andrew Bates blasted the “ethical standards” of “Rupert Murdoch’s sad little super pac, the New York Post“:

Former Trump Senior White House Advisor Stephen Miller expressed outrage as news began to break Monday that President Joe Biden will announce protections for about 500,000 undocumented immigrants who are married to U.S. citizens, along with making it easier for Dreamers to get work visas.

"The president’s executive action will shield undocumented spouses of U.S. citizens from deportation, allow them to obtain work authorization, as well as ease their path to permanent resident status, the three sources told PBS News," PBS NewsHour's Laura Barrón-López reported. "The announcement will be made at a White House event marking the 12th anniversary of an Obama-era action that protected undocumented youth brought to the U.S. as children from deportation."

Calling it "New Actions to Keep Families Together," the Biden White House issued a a fact sheet Tuesday, explaining that "President Biden is announcing that the Department of Homeland Security will take action to ensure that U.S. citizens with noncitizen spouses and children can keep their families together. This new process will help certain noncitizen spouses and children apply for lawful permanent residence – status that they are already eligible for – without leaving the country. These actions will promote family unity and strengthen our economy, providing a significant benefit to the country and helping U.S. citizens and their noncitizen family members stay together."

I love listening to him talk about religion... because as many pointed out before, there are many subtle ques he never gave a shit about it till he needed to pander to evangelicals. The language used by true believers is often very different than a pretender like him. For example, Sam Harris pointed out how Trump quoted "Corinthians two" when basically everyone who actually goes to church would have said "second Corinthians" because it flows so much better. It's kind of like when someone is speaking a foreign language in a way that isn't totally wrong, but very awkward.
