GOP Plan to Name Airport After Trump; Dems troll

A group of House Democrats came up with the perfect response on Friday to a Republican-backed measure to rename the Washington, D.C.-area Dulles International Airport after Donald Trump.

Whether it was an act of sycophancy or just plain trolling, House Republicans introduced a bill last week to rename the airport to Donald J. Trump International Airport. House Democrats weren’t happy with the measure, the airport’s inducement of misery notwithstanding.

Among them was Representative Gerry Connolly, who said, “Donald Trump is facing 91 felony charges. If Republicans want to name something after him, I’d suggest they find a federal prison.”

Summary of the article:
The insurance company is neither licensed in New York nor vetted by a voluntary state entity verifying it meets minimum “eligibility standards” to prove financial stability.

Nor does it actually promise to pay, instead, it says Trump will pay, negating the whole point of an insurance company guarantee.

The insurance company is tied to Don Hankey Jr., a billionaire MAGA supporter who’s built a reputation by dealing in subprime auto loans that have resulted in numerous complaints about predatory business practices—like illegally repossessing the cars of American soldiers.

The firm’s financial statements also show that it doesn’t have the “surplus” to meet the capital requirements for posting the bond. The firm is trying to operate without a certificate of qualification.

Knight Specialty appears to be helping Trump with an alternate option: operating through what’s called the “excess and surplus lines insurance” market: a secondary exchange typically reserved for high-risk business ventures, or those with a severe loss history that makes them untouchable in the primary market.

'Judges didn't have time to stop laughing'

"The Appellate Division issued this order so quickly the judges didn’t even have time to stop laughing," wrote conservative attorney George Conway.

"DENIED: No change of venue for the election interference hush money trial. SAD!" wrote legal and political commentator Allison Gill, better known by the online moniker Mueller, She Wrote.

"Good," wrote author Patrick S. Tomlinson. "Single judge declines to advance Trump's venue change motion to a full appellate panel. Change of venue and stay motions denied. Sounds like NY is done screwing around with this d-------."

"NEW: The ruling that the screaming toddler must go to bed without supper is upheld," wrote the account "The Exhausted Lib."

This particular judge needed months to make that decision. Any other judge would have reached that same conclusion in a matter of days (without the criticism of the prosecution and hinting at the possibility of changing their mind).

That's just Cannon's way of dragging her feet and trying to stay on this case long enough until a jury has been seated. Then double jeopardy will apply and she'll dismiss the case.

Donald Trump's media company, Trump Media & Technology Group Corp. (TMTG), has reportedly chosen to keep an auditor with a "100% deficiency" rate.

Bloomberg reported this week that TMTG said in recent filings that it will keep the BF Borgers accounting firm as its auditor.

Bloomberg said this Colorado-based firm has a history of being flagged for failures in its auditing, including a "100% deficiency rate" in audits reviewed by the U.S. watchdog, the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) in the past two years.
Dude, they need an accounting team who will play Trump's game! Who else are they gonna get unless they're shit at the job?

I must be missing something. Where does the possibility of double jeopardy exist in this case?

Smith wrote in a filing on April 2 that if a jury was sworn in and Cannon then ruled that Trump should be acquitted because he had a legal right to retain the documents, then prosecutors would not be permitted to appeal—as the federal double jeopardy rule means a defendant cannot be tried for the same crime twice.

Free already posted the relevant link. Thanks, Free.

Why isn't Jack Smith filing to have her removed from the case yet???
Because Cannon for the most part issued scheduling orders that can't be appealed or dragged her feet and postponed making final decisions. And in the rare instances when she finally gave an order, she technically agreed with Smith.

The issue is that removing a judge from a case is a serious matter, so Smith needs to be 100% sure that he will succeed or he is going to be stuck with judge Cannon.

These guys are generally reliable when it comes to covering this trial and explaining the legal details (they're lawyers).

Just ignore the clickbait video titles and frequent ads for hair tonic and pillows.

Trump has quite the team.

There are multiple Jeremy Rosenbergs in New York City, as former President Donald Trump's attorneys found out Tuesday after they sent a subpoena to the wrong one.

Last month, Trump's attorneys in his criminal hush money case in Manhattan sought to subpoena the Jeremy Rosenberg who was a supervising investigator in the Manhattan district attorney's office.

Instead, according to court filings revealed Tuesday, the subpoena went to another Jeremy Rosenberg living in an $8 million Brooklyn home.
I love this part:
"I don't have any files for you," that Rosenberg wrote to defense attorney Todd Blanche, per the court filings.

Furthermore, that Rosenberg wrote, "I'm keeping the fifteen dollars" Blanche had provided to help him pay the cost of sending the requested documents.
