March 22 (Reuters) - Former U.S. President Donald Trump came a step closer on Friday to reaping a major windfall from his social media firm after investors in a blank-check acquisition company approved a merger currently worth about $5.7 billion.

The deal values Trump's majority stake in the company that holds his app Truth Social at about $3.3 billion. The windfall could prove vital as Trump grapples with the financial fallout of a string of legal cases against him, including a $454 million judgment in a civil fraud case in New York.

A New York appeals court on Monday agreed to hold off collection of former President Donald Trump’s more than $454 million civil fraud judgment — if he puts up $175 million within 10 days.

If he does, it will stop the clock on collection and prevent the state from seizing the presumptive Republican presidential nominee’s assets while he appeals. The appeals court also reversed other aspects of a trial judge’s ruling that had barred Trump and sons Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr., the family company’s executive vice presidents, from serving in corporate leadership for several years.

So chances are he can't produce that kind of money either in 10 days.
His house of cards is collapsing, that is still a good thing even though it is not going as fast as one would hope.

People should not focus and hope for the courts to bring him down.
Better prepare to get enough people to vote in a way to keep Dumpty away from the presidential office.

Well, yes. But Sid's right. We can't hope for the courts to save us from the orange blob. We need to get out and VOTE in numbers that dwarf our 2020 turnout and make sure he never steps foot in the White House ever again.

IDK, it's a civil appeal. He was found guilty of ripping people off and they should be paid. The money is being held in trust for them. Criminal appeals don't require bonds. At least that is my understanding, IANAL.
