(Necro warning) I was just thinking about this. It's my opinion that the Trump age very quickly exhausted most of us and in some cases left us despairing of ever hearing any honesty. I think Avenatti represented one of those straws we like to grasp at, and in fact this was just the case of trusting the wrong man for the right reasons.
And that is how a country falls into chaos at the hands of opportunistic grifters.
First, his circle will block all info. That gives them time to come up with the best epic-conspiracy-bullshit they ever had. They'll keep the flames fanned and someone new, perhaps worse than Trump, will take their place.
Trump is a symptom, not a cause. In a healthy, functioning democracy he would have been dismissed as the evil clown he is.
Certainly, but then do we end up with, oh say, Nicki Haley as the winner in the primaries? Does she have a better chance of winning the election? Would she be as much of a dictator as orangey if she wins? Seems like many unknowns to me.
It's not that unkown - widen the question to her political party and their track record on women's rights, civil rights, health care, equality or any other issue worth a damn. We've already seen what they want to do when they gain any power.
Have you seen the other Republican candidates? They're really not much better. The GOP is rotten to the core. It'll have to die, and, hopefully something better takes its place. But when you look at how many millions of Americans still fully support that shitshow, it's not hopeful.
