True, though your chance of dying goes down to almost zero.

I wish folks would stop saying this. "Almost" zero is NOT the same as zero, but most people don't hear that. All they focus on is the zero part and assume they will not die. Worse than that, when they hear of someone fully vaccinated that gets Covid and then dies, they start saying the vaccines don't work, so why go through the hassle of getting them. I've had this conversation so many times it's very frustrating. We have to be more careful with phrasing. Much better to say, your chances of surviving Covid are much better if you're fully vaccinated.

If you're wearing a seatbelt and your car is fitted with an airbag, your chances in a crash are far better than they would otherwise be, or if you're wearing a helmet and protective leathers on a motorbike.

But nevertheless, it's still prudent to drive cautiously and keep an eye on the road.

Scrapping self-isolation rules earlier for the fully vaccinated, as Blair among others have suggested, risks infections soaring even higher, but keeping them might mean businesses and services collapsing. “The problem is we don’t know what to do,” an anonymous minister explained to the Mail on Sunday at the weekend. Well, that much is obvious.

At some point "almost zero" becomes valid in my opinion. In the show Dead Like Me, Georgia gets killed by a toilet seat falling from the Russian Mir satellite. The chances of that happening are almost zero. The number of people who die after being vaccinated is not that low but is about 1 / 400,000 people so far this year (328,000,000 / 750). By comparison, 1 / 138,000 people are killed by lightning each year.

Well, that didn't take long.

This means they've taken the decision over the weekend and only confirmed it today, the day controls were finally lifted, to the trepidation of most of the country.

Hardly looks like a government in control of much, but that's nothing new.

"Take back control"? More like "Get a grip".

You're missing the point. While you may be factually correct, that particular phrase has a disproportionately emotional connotation that undermines the message.
That's nice.

That dis proportionally emotional response needs to be forcefully beaten out of the general populace. If you're incapable of seeing the difference between actual zero and "almost" zero (meaning a non-zero) .... That's your own fucking problem.
