So people who visit *gambling" casinos tend to fail at understanding risk. I think I got it.

I saw only a handful, a very small handful, of people wearing masks in that video. I would bet that a pretty high majority of those folks are not from Vegas, and they will be going home.
We'll be joining in here in Arizona. Go us?The good news?
We are "Free at Last" (actual Florida Keys Billboard advertising re-opening before blowback made them reconsider its tone-deafness), the Keys are open for business again.
The bad news?
The Keys are open for business again. All the bars are rocking again.
Businesses requiring all customers to wear masks? 50/50 at best.
Businesses limiting capacity to 50%? They're not so good at maths.
Businesses making people/parties inside sit six feet apart? Have you been to the Keys? That would be less than 10 people, and we said we're bad at maths.
Bars requiring any of the above? Yeah, sure.
Florida's numbers are climbing again; pretty sure it won't be a short-term trend.
Well, damn. If I take a yoga class when things eventually get back to normal I'll definitely ask some questions first.![]()
'Evil forces': how Covid-19 paranoia united the wellness industry and rightwing conspiracy theorists | Brigid Delaney
Amid the Covid-19 lockdown, the connection between rightwing conspiracy theories and wellness have strengthenedwww.theguardian.com
Not really a surprise, I suppose, since the wellness industry is a grift that that sells woo, bad science and fake mysticism, and which depends on a myth of natural mystical healing which conventional science and big pharma are deliberately hiding, as part of self-interested conspiracy.
Reagan had an astrologer, so the right-wing woo-woo tie in isn't new.![]()

This is a PSA: That Bleach and Hot Water Thing is Actually a MythIf you’ve ever heard (or believed) that you shouldn’t mix bleach with hot water when cleaning or doing laundry, then we have news for you. Turns out that the widespread belief that hot water can render the active ingredients in bleach ineffective is nothing more than modern-day housekeeping folklore.
We did a little digging and discovered that the myth might actually stem from the fact that bleach is actually very sensitive to high heat storage conditions—and that it should always be stored at a normal room temperature to prolong its shelf life. But if you want to mix it with hot water to boost the cleaning potential? Totally cool.

Someone's banking all the money from selling those drugs and running those scams.Organized crime is still a thing?
I thought they all pretty much gave up and switched to running the country instead.

Hey Sweden, why are you not up with the other nordic countries?
Because they followed a policy too similar to that of the UK, I thinkHey Sweden, why are you not up with the other nordic countries?![]()
One of the advantages of slowing down the incidence of new cases is not just to spread the load on medical services; the delay also provides more time to develop treatments (and a vaccine, but that's more long-term). By allowing so many cases to spread now, Sweden and the UK have increased the number of fatalities -- all those people who died because doctors and medical support were still learning how to treat COVID-19 patients.Because they followed a policy too similar to that of the UK, I think
